Great software

I use this software every year and so do my two daughters. Very friendly. Taxes are piece of cake, if that can be said about taxes. I recognize that I am the simple version, salaried, no stocks investments, mortgage almost paid.
What's great about it: Been using Turbo Tax Deluxe for several years now
What's not so great: Couldn't find any

Smooth and Simple

Fastest beginning to end yet. Needed to figure out how to enter more complex options trades without buying next version. You pay attention to the questions asked you will file an accurate and quick return.
What's great about it: Easiest step-by-step yet
What's not so great: Upsell to more expensive versions

Tax Returns for Dummies

If you only do one tax return once a year, it's hard to be on top of tax law and tax forms. Turbo Tax does a good job of simplifying the process and getting the right numbers on the right lines of the right forms. I've used Turbo tax for more than 10 years. Takes the worry (and much of the work) out of doing your taxes.
What's great about it: Simplifies complicated issues one question and one step at a time

Long Long Time User

I'm a CPA that spent 10 years in public accounting. After leaving the profession in1982 and becoming the CFO for a group from private companies I still had friends who wouldn't take no for an answer when it came to doing their taxes. I don't charge them for doing their returns, but because they are some of my best friends I still do their their returns and I do my own as well using turbo tax. I have never had a problem with the software, and I plan on using this program next year.
What's great about it: Accurate
What's not so great: I only get 5 e file returns.

An important omission?

This sure beats the old pencil and paper method. Although even with all the help built in, this is not so symple. Perhaps at age 80, it just seems complicated?
What's great about it: One can see where thay are as they go.
What's not so great: If one is not astute one could miss sending in a required estimate payments.

Good product

Some items and forms, specially K-1, were carried forward from previous year, even though they had no dollar values. This was not apparent when stepping through each item, only when forms view was used. Then had to figure out how to get rid of the extraneous pages. Would be best if stepping through items forces the user to view and agree to everything being carried forward from previous year.
What's great about it: Fast and effective
What's not so great: Some items carried forward mistakenly from previous years.

5 Years & Still Loving It!

Been using for 5 years now, and even though my tax situation has grown more complex, TurboTax has been able to handle it all with ease.
Between my investments, stock options and varied income sources, I've never had anything but confidence in the accuracy.
Love the ease of this....and the potential thousands I've saed on accountant fees.
What's great about it: Thorough without being confusing or overwhelming...and can even handle mildly complex returns.
What's not so great: Didn't automatically "force" an update to software and forms when installed. Don't forget to do this.

Taxes 2013 - US, MD and NJ

Trying to determine what I owed in each state (Maryland and NJ) was confusing. The questions weren't clear on how each state's taxes were calculated.
What's great about it: Entering info was easy
What's not so great: Difficulty understanding how to allocate taxes between NJ and MD.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments
