Mac users caution

you update at the outset and you get to the end to file and you get another message telling you to update=panic sets in.
tell people to remove the disc once they have loaded the product onto the machine avoid the panic.
you ruin what is otherwise a great experience with a great product and it enrages the customer that you know the solution to the problem from the beginning. tell them.

Worth the money but never a good return

I've been using Turbo Tax for years and it seems like more & more I get less money back and can claim less. I work with over 100 people and they say they can claim medical but turbo tax says it has to be over a huge amount you spend. I bought about $19,000 in energy efficient appliances and a whole new refrigerated air system with furnace and the installer said i'd get back about a $1000 for that on taxes but this program only gave me $200. I'm worried this program is working more for the government to get them money then for myself. Next year I might have to consult someone who does taxes and just hope it doesn't cost an outrageous price. But if I get money back or can claim more it might be worth it.
What's great about it: Price for program is reasonable.
What's not so great: I don't get the money back, people using other sources do.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great 2013 Refund

Have been using Turbo Tax for years. Tried the other brand one year - Didn't like it.
Will use Turbo Tax again next year.
What's great about it: /easy program to work with

I've used TurboTax for about five years and wouldn't go back to my old pencil approach. It has lots of good features.
I have two minor issues with it. The first is every year it messes up the Philadelphia wage tax I pay as a person who works there but lives in NJ. Every year I look around in Help, then go back to last year's taxes to figure out how to have them come off my NJ taxes. Also, it said in passing that we owe back taxes in NJ. I checked my records. This should not be correct, but now I can't get back to that screen. I suspect it may be a glitch related to mailing in my state taxes rather than paying TurboTax extra to e-file them.
What's great about it: Easy to use, pulls readily from last year's taxes
What's not so great: Still doesn't do Philadelphia Wage Tax right, confusing side comment

I've been an IT professional for more than 35 years. TurboTax is the most well-written and maintained piece of off-the-shelf software I have seen. I've been a TurboTax user for at least 10 years now. Thanks and... Well done!!
What's great about it: Ease of use. Thorough. Consistent.

Bad experience

did not e file my return...kept asking for more information, but did not specify what info you wanted. Spent hours on return, after imputing all my info.just trying to get it e filed.
What's not so great: difficult to use...

Slugged my way through

Seems a little cumbersome compared to previous return years, but it may have been because I had several unusual issues to deal with.
What's great about it: Stepped through all elements of the return
What's not so great: Found myself jumping around trying to find explanations for several peculiar items on my return
