I've use Turbotax for may years and it gets better every year. My taxes are simple taking the hassle of finding a tax preparer, driving the distance. That's not worth it when I collect all my paperwork and sit down and get it done.
What's great about it: Easy to use

I wasted a lot of toner and paper on forms with no data. Unusual investments not always well described by your categories. Below, where you ask about kids, I have kids, but they're adults and don't live at home or affect our taxes
What's great about it: Ease of entering information. You transfer my data for me when it makes sense.
What's not so great: Too rigid. No control over forms not to print.

Have Used For Many Years

I prefer using Turbo Tax and have done so for many years - but the cost of electronic filing and processing seems to continue to creep up. Makes me wonder if paper and snail mail is better way to go.
But I do appreciate the quality of the software and continuous updates.
What's great about it: Always have updates available
What's not so great: Getting more expensive to use

What's great about it: Walks you through everything in detail with very easy-to-understand language and examples.

TT 2013

Have used TurboTax for a lot of years, and very happily. Had heard TT2013 was problematical but bought it anyway due to excellent past experience. But this year TurboTax was to prove a very poor choice for my simple return. What was the problem? One small little tax credit that TT just refused to recognize or to know what to do with. Totally different experience than with that issue in years past. Read all the many complaints re this issue online with no suggested workarounds that worked, as noted by the preparer community including me. Finally gave up in disgust, filed an extension knowing that the amount due shown on TT was totally in error. The problem now, after who knows how many fixes, seems to be solved - but in future I will be VERY cautious about considering TurboTax for tax help.

Easy to use, Dependable

I've been using this program every year since 1997. I have been completely pleased and that is why I've continued to use TurboTax. No problems whatsoever in these many years. They've saved me a lot of money and saved me a lot of time, especially had I tried to do my taxes myself without them.
What's great about it: Like everything
What's not so great: hard to figure how they could improve

User Friendly-Sometimes

I've been a Turbotax user since the old MacInTax days. I thought those earlier tax programs were SO user friendly. I could go from form to form, wherever I liked. The new programs are more restrictive. They restrict my movement or, at least, make it more difficult to do. I'm old; it's probably me that's the problem. This is more complex and maybe I like simple.
What's great about it: Keeps Mistakes from Being Made
What's not so great: Restricts me from doing what I'd like to do with the forms
