Can't believe how easy it was!!

Purchased this version as recommended for gay couple and was not disappointed! Couldn't have been easier.
What's great about it: checked everything and gave alternatives
What's not so great: my hesitation caused me to re-do a couple sections
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Best Tax Software Ever
on April 13, 2014

It is up to date on Federal and State laws & asks all the right questions to get your answers. They don't leave anything to chance and they guarantee the return you file based on your honest answers. Just save your paperwork to back up your answers and you're done. It's a snap to use!
What's great about it: Makes filing at home so easy...and cheap.
What's not so great: I can't think of any at all.

Turbo tax review
on April 13, 2014

Turbo tax is easy to use, walks you through all the steps so it less likely you will miss something. Allows you to go back and review certain sections without reviewing everything.
Only thing is on the state return it stated that I had to print and sign and file my homestead declaration forms but then at the end said I filed by "e-signature" so it left me wondering if I had filed the homestead declaration and application for a prebate or not.
What's great about it: easy directions, walks you through it
What's not so great: state homestead declaration filing not clear

Needs better navigation
on April 13, 2014
Posted by: dannyp8128
Overall, same solid product as last year.
It is still too hard to pop out to eh "go here!" level - I spend too much time fighting the "guide me through everything" stuff.
The support for K1s is weak - that's clearly an area where Intuit should invest more.
What's great about it: Most things work smoothly
What's not so great: Not enough direct navigation, better support for K1s

Also, the data provided about not having certain forms seemed strange; how can you claim technical perfection without having all your ducks in a row???? Right now I can't figure out how to/ or even whether my State return has been sent.....
What's great about it: Mostly works well; fairly understandable.
What's not so great: Filing processes could be improved; somehow confusing.

Add a line "US Savings bonds) in investment income
on April 13, 2014
Posted by: Trappercat
When trying to put in the investment income from some savings bonds I had cashed in, it took me forever to read the code in both the state and federal pop-ups. I have been filing taxes for years, but it is the first time I cashed in a bond. As a retired CPA I have read tax codes, but they are very complex for the average person to read. I would be helpful to "interpret" this by asking a specific question of US Savings bonds.
What's great about it: Will make it easier.
What's not so great: I doubt there are any
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Estimated Taxes Not Figured Automatically
on April 13, 2014
Posted by: HJRad
I had to call the State of Minnesota to get information on my estimated taxes for next year. This was not brought up to me at all when I went through the process on Turbo Tax. I actually should have paid estimated taxes last year but i was not prompted to do so.
What's great about it: Basic walk through the process was good.
What's not so great: I needed to fill out State forms for Estimated Taxes and I couldn't find any help.
