Love Turbo Tax

Did my son's taxes

OVerall, I love using turbo tax. But would like for you to consider the pricing for states, I had to file personal and son's taxes for NC - and had to pay for NC twice. If you add another state, I think there should be a discount. My son is a college student and makes so little money - he actually lost money by filing with turbo tax because of the fees. I just didnt' have time to do the paper forms - but would like for you to consider your pricing structure.
What's great about it: Had to do multiple states for son - it was so easy
What's not so great: Dont like the fees for each state - should get a discount

Didn't do a real swell job of doing other states. Ended up having to mail that return, so that was a hassle. Overall a great product!
What's great about it: pretty easy
What's not so great: extra states hard to fix

Quick and easy

I really like being able to do everything electronically and quickly. I wish that Turbo-tax would include the cost of e-filing my state tax return with the cost of the program instead of being tagged on at the end as an additional expense.
What's great about it: Using Turbo-tax is fast and easy, and the program guided me through the process with good explanations most of the way.
What's not so great: Filing my state return should be part of the cost of the program, not added on at the end.

UI experience all good with the exception of determining where to claim a foreign tax credit for RRSP tax withholding. took me 3 hrs to finally get it in.

didn't get audited last year -- good, because i used it last year much of the data was transferred, impressed that it asked all the questions that i would have expected and even ones i didn't think would show up (comprehensive for my needs).
What's great about it: easy to use, price
What's not so great: paying for state e-file

I think Turbo Tax is excellent for individual and joint returns.
I remember how it used to be going through a return, adding, then subtractung then choosing the larger or smaller of etc.. It was easy to make mistake, and forget things so I used to spend a lot of time reviewing and redoing. Now the effect of each entry or change automatically updates every part of the return that is affected, You can also click on forms and see what is actually going into 1040 and other forms and then return to the menu driven software to continue entering your information. There are prompts for information that Turbo thinks might be relevant or might reduce your taxes. The e-file option is easy to use and convenient.
