Foreign income

The difficulties, other than inherent complexities of form 1116 for tax credit, is that last year's return information was not carried along with regards to Canadian accounts. I had to add my wife's RRSP account. If not relevant this year because she did not draw on it, that should have been mentioned.
What's great about it: Form now available (last few years) for Canadian RRSP and RIFF.
What's not so great: Poor step by step organization.

Outstanding, as usual

I have used TurboTax since 1994. As usual, the product continues to make April 15 easier. I never actually look forward doing taxes, but Turbotax makes it doable. A flexible, comprehensive interface, authoritative documentation, and updated, guaranteed calculations are the hallmarks of a quality product.
What's great about it: Fast, reliable, simple
What's not so great: Paying taxes is (almost) fun ;-)

slow to load

I've been using Turbo Tax for 12-14 years. This is the first year I have had any issues with the program. I suspect something to do with WIN 8. I ran every update I could find. Finally loaded after about 8 hours and 6 reboots. Then the program ran slowly. Keep showing "not responding".
Any rate, it's still a good program, I'll buy again next year.

If you're nervous about doing your own taxes, don't be. If your tax return is simple, you can breeze right through. But even if you have a complicated return, Turbo Tax Software has you covered!
What's great about it: Very Easy yet Very Thorough
What's not so great: I just hate doing taxes.

frustrating

I purchased CT to do my daughters Tax, When I did mine with NY & NJ the Program kept trying to complete a CT tax return for me also after I did NY & NJ. Neither My spouse or I put CT income or residency on the interview. It kept finding errors and insisted I check which one of us had CT income
I also think the state returns are too expensive
What's great about it: clear steps
What's not so great: didnt import 2012 from block, state tax info issues

Had trouble calculating & paying penalty for 2012

The treatment for an HSA was at first a little confusing but, I eventually figgered it out and understand the logic behind it now. The information to help with the penalty incurred for not paying estimated taxes should be available to calculate how much the penalty is and be included on a worksheet for that purpose that is a fillable sheet that does the calculation.
What's great about it: worksheets filled in automatically
What's not so great: had trouble aquiring forms

Another Year with Turbo Tax

I have been using Turbo Tax for 7 years and it keeps getting better and better in terms of ease of use and the time it takes me to complete my tax return.
What's great about it: I find the process of inputing the data so easy to understand
What's not so great: having to pay taxes
