Overall, I would recommend this product. I had a very difficult time trying to enter a capital gains distribution from a mutual fund. Turbotax had no help entry at all. After searching the IRS website and reading the instructions for Schedule D, I discovered that the gain should be entered on Line 13 of Schedule D. Turbotax had already entered the figure there when I inputted line 2a off of the 1099. It would have been so much simpler if the program had had an entry under the "Help" function.
What's great about it: 5 free e-files
What's not so great: "Help" function was not as useful as other years

Easy to use software

For the most part this is a great program because it goes through all the questions for filing returns. However, I had trouble with reporting a 1099R for an IRA that I rolled over. There was not any explanation until I searched for where to find the process.
What's great about it: Easy to enter information and software guides you through process
What's not so great: The process for reporting IRA rollovers was not explained well or at all.

Last Minute Tax Prep

It's great to have this finally completed with forms submitted and awaiting refunds. The program is extremely easy to follow, asks questions all the way and makes the whole process so simple. I really don't feel like we could have possibly missed anything! The only minor issue was that last year we had 1099 income and although I had it at $0 this year, it didn't delete the form. It wasn't until the end that I realized it was retaining a Schedule C and I had to go back and figure out how to delete it. Other than that - straight forward with no real problems. I've been using TurboTax for years now!
What's great about it: Fast and Easy
What's not so great: Took awhile to figure out how to get rid of a form from last year!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Like Watching Scotty Grow!

Used TurboTax since it was little more than a Lotus spreadsheet overlay and have watched it blossom into an A-list product. Masterful job in ways too numerous to count! Only difficulties this year were getting the software to accept foreign taxes paid as a credit instead of an itemized deduction (even though all req'd info was available) and easily e-filing Form 4868 Extension of Time. Could only do the latter through the online version.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, Effective, Streamlined and User-Friendly
What's not so great: Wrinkles in claiming Fgn Tax Credit and e-filing Form 4868

Many Happy Returns

Turbo Tax is straight forward and has guided me through a successful tax return season for about 20 years. Although I itemize for state/local income taxes, property taxes, mortgage interest, cash/non-cash charitable contributions, and have interest, dividends, and long/short capital gains, the process is well organized and logical. I usually complete my return each year - installation to filing of Federal and State - in about 4 hours.
I like knowing that I can complete my taxes in a clear, concise, and understandable way myself and I don't have to rely upon an expensive tax preparer to tell me what it all means.
Turbo Tax has earned my respect, admiration, and loyalty with a well conceived and developed product.
What's great about it: A Turbo Tax user since the early '90s, I itemize and live/work in different states but can do it all in about 4 hrs
What's not so great: TT knows that PA and NJ have reciprocal tax agreements but tries to get me to file 2 returns

No Stress Process

I have used Turbo Tax for the last 4 or five years. I find it user friendly. I can do my taxes when most convenient for me. It's also an affordable method of getting assistance in filing.
What's great about it: Easy, walk through instructions, can see the amount owed or deposit as you go along, automatically checks for errors
What's not so great: None I can thing of right now
