Streamless GUI Yields (+) Review
on April 13, 2014

I have been using Turbo Tax for a few years and it is a program that constantly improves on a yearly basis.
No glitches and it makes the tedious task of filing Fed and State returns very simple.
Keeping all documentation organized prior to loading and running the program = 3 hours of filing time after double checking all of the entries on my part.
All (+) feedback here.
What's great about it: Improves on a yearly basis.
What's not so great: Nada.

Comfortable using every year

I have used TurboTax since 2007 and enjoy having prior year data moved over automatically. I am a finance professional and I appreciate all of the things that TurboTax can do. E-file gets me my money fast too.
What's great about it: Succinct and easy to use
What's not so great: Can't adjust detail line items (maybe it's just me)

I like the option to "exlpore on my own" that is a great new feature.
I like the "transfer" ability from year to year
E-filing is made simple by TurboTax

It's OK

I know that you want to sell me a lot of options, but I just want to print my state return & mail it. The program fights me all of the way.
It runs fairly well. I can't shut off auto updates, so it's constantly checking.
What's great about it: fairly intuitive, runs well
What's not so great: hard to print a return for filing, too much selling

More problems than I've had in the past
on April 13, 2014

I'm disappointed -- I found an error in the process. I initially thought the activity associated with my 1099-misc was a self-employed business. Then after talking with friends realized that it wasn't. When I changed that entry, I couldn't find my business expense entries on your "guide". It wasn't until I looked through the forms option that I noticed they were still there. They should have been deleted - your review error check didn't catch it -- but I bet the IRS would.
Also, I don't like the fact that I can't print my forms until I commit to filing them. Especially this year - I have a new computer and don;t have access to the previous year files (which are PC and I'm now MAC).
The thing about not having my tax file on my hard drive. My computer is a laptop - and password or no. I'm concerned about security on a portable device. Please work that.
What's great about it: not having to work through my donations and my stock sale
What's not so great: e-filing screwed up because I did not keep my file on my hard drive. It took me a long to figure that out.

Generally a good experience, again. However, there are certain areas/items where it is difficult to locate the form showing how the amount on the 1040 (or other form) was derived. Would be helpful to have a link to the "back up" ( or for your records) form. A specific example is the Sales Tax deduction.
Also, you don't realize when there is a supporting schedule until you start typing the amount on the line and you accidentally type over what was the description on the supporting details schedule. Could you highlight the line in some way to indicate a supporting schedule exists?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I had income reported on a 1099-S, but TurboTax guided me to a 1099-B, and it did not walk me through all of the possible entries on that form. I had to go to the form and decide what to enter where.
What's great about it: Walked me through the return fairly easily
What's not so great: Did not handle a 1099-S very well
