Comptent and Thorough Tax Software

Overall Turbo Tax is easy to use. There are odd elements of the tax code, where if you answer yes (for example foreign taxes paid on mutual fund investments) where you feel like you are heading down a rabbit hole. This is due more to U.S. Tax code than the tax software but that fear that I may be mis-interpeting something is why I didn't rate Turbo Tax 5 stars. Nonetheless, I think it is the best available.
What's great about it: Many forms are automated like W-2 and 1099s
What's not so great: There's always an element of confusion with part of the tax code

saved a little money

over all it is thorough, has good error checking, gives last year's figures so you can see if you forgot something.
What's great about it: asked direct questions. left some areas up to user to peruse in case those areas did not pertain to user's finances.
What's not so great: getting more complicated as each year goes by. took a long time to finish a relatively simple return.

Excellent experience, year after year

I recommend this to my friends and family every year.
What's great about it: Love that it walks you through all the options - even the ones you wish you didn't have to claim
What's not so great: Sometimes a little confusing after a year as to how to look at a worksheet or form to see exactly what is being asked

Why not Mass return?

As always, I like the ease of entry and the calculation process, especially with charitable contributions. When I attempted to file, however, I met frustrations. First, I was unable to file my state tax. Why did I purchase the program for that? Second the fee for using a credit card is very steep. I was pleased to be able to use my bank.
What's great about it: Easy to enter and calculate.
What's not so great: Can't e-file Mass return

Love My Turbo Tax

My friend turned me on to Turbo Tax 3 years ago and it's the only way I go now.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Looks just like my ex Tax Man Files
What's not so great: None Whatsoever
