Declining?

I've used turbo tax for several years, and it seems like it is getting worse instead of improving. If a person may be itemizing deductions, it would benefit if it told you up front to qualify for a deduction it much be __% of your AGI. I'm estimating I wasted over 2 hrs calculating potential deductions, only to find out my AGI was too high to qualify for the deduction.
What's great about it: Walks thru step by step
What's not so great: Go thru several steps only to find out dont qualify for a deduction

TTax did not go the extra mile

Ive used Turbotax for years. next year i will consider other options. felt like ttax did anything but go the xtra mile. it's offensive that I need to do an upgrade from deluxe to a step up to have my stock sales imported...really ?? its an import - grab and place data. also, ttax knew my bank account info for the fed return, but not for my state return- really?? just seems sloppy - the over all feel i got was that corners were cut - i assume my return is accurate, but was left wanting this go around. just seems reflective of accountants having more authority than the creatives that made the company go - more focus on saving pennies than spending a little to take care of the customer...which yields dollars. time to find a new option - ttax model matured and sunsetting

First blip using TurboTax

I love using TurboTax. It makes doing my taxes easy and convenient. For the first time, I encountered a blip with TurboTax this year. Using a Mac, I ended up in a update loop. No matter how many times I updated the software, I kept being told to update again. I finally found help on the TurboTax website which took some time. (At least it was on the support site though.) Once I found how to fix the problem everything worked as I expect TurboTax to perform.
What's great about it: Easy navigation; good questions; easy to follow
What's not so great: Update loop

this is the third year in a row I have had problems that the program says there is an error in my 401k data but provides no accurate explanation of the error or how to fix it - the error message every year just says the maximum that can be contributed is $17,500 even though the number I fill is is less than that. I do not understand how this same bug can still be there after 3 years - your message board is full of others who are having the same problem, yet ever year I have to struggle to figure out how I can override your program and manually fill in data in various forms to be able to file my taxes (worst is that the program refuses to let you file with this error, so in past years I have been in a panic as I faced filing late because the program refused to let me file - this year I made sure to file early to avoid that problem, anticipating that the same error would still be in your program). I seriously considered using H&R Block's program this year and probably will next year to avoid this.
What's great about it: generally strightforward
What's not so great: errors in computing 401k ocntributions

Very easy to use software

I was a disappointed that the electronic deposit fees are not made available at the beginning. Although this service is MUCH cheaper than competitors, I like to have this information up front prior to completing my taxes, so I have a chance to decide which is best option for me.
What's great about it: I can do it from home and not be pressured to purchase additional services.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
