Reliable and Helpful for most part

I have been relying on Turbo tax to file my returns and it has worked well for most part. I used to get my forms from library, then download online, and fill by hand in both cases. TT saves a lot of time compared to that. However, I still have to chase down all individual interest sources for anything reported as tax-exempt on federal return, in order to file a state return. TT took an easy way out and put up one large screen asking choose all possible sources of tax exempt interests. It would be more helpful if each such interest payment was mentioned for the source.
What's great about it: Federal return is done fairly well
What's not so great: State return can use improvements (Illinois)

Turbo Tax to relieve tax headaches

Easy to use even for a tax challenged person such as me. I would recommend this product to people who never prepared one's personal taxes.
What's great about it: dedcution interview
What's not so great: schedule C was challenging especially trying to figure out a vehicle's ATM

Faithful Turbo Tax User

I have used Turbo Tax for years, including when I owned a small business which was incorporated! I recommend Turbo Tax to anyone who doesn't want to share any return money with tax preparers!
What's great about it: Ease of use, direct links to forms, direct links to IRS publications
What's not so great: nothing!

MAC trouble

Please fix the MAC e-file problem...
What's great about it: I am a long time user and will continue, but please fix the e-file problem that you have with the MAC version.
What's not so great: MAC e-file does not work well

The directions for filing the state return by mail were not very clear. Having a check box for BOTH the Federal and State when selecting to file electronically or mail returns would be more helpful.

Easy to Use

Most of the process went well. I did experience difficulty with downloading the updates. I forwarded an email on April 12, 2014 requesting assistance. On April 13, 2014 I was able to update the the Turbo Tax computer program and finish my returns.
What's great about it: Using the TAX Guide facilitated the process
What's not so great: I experienced difficulty initially with obtaining the update downloads.

Smooth stepbystep

Pretty much a well done program. One area I always struggle with is the tax exempt and state tax exempt parts of mutual funds and investments.
What's great about it: good questions, mostly very clear
What's not so great: Occational use of technical accounting terms not well explained
Pros: I bought or sold investments
