Gets Easier Each Year

The response time was excellent, easy to follow and enter on my own. Transfer of Last Years return was automatic and helped with year to year comparisons. Audit at the end gave me "peace of mind". Easy to pay for Federal taxes on-line, but had to go to a confusing web-site to try and pay State taxes on-line. Thus paid Federal on-line, but chose to pay State by mail.
What's great about it: Transfer of Last Years Return, Quick & Nice Audit
What's not so great: Not easy to pay for State Taxes on-line

had to go back several times to promotional items on original purchase to see if I hadn't already paid for the state e-file . no mention of charge until very end before filing.
What's great about it: easy to understand until the end - e-file process then your hit with a surprise charge
What's not so great: extra e-file charges for state plus tax

Not as good as it used to be

I had difficulty sending it to last years return on a portable drive. I could not check to be sure the return gross income was the same as what was on the internal computer results from Turbotax 2012. When I clicked on save in the files prompt I did not see a way to save to a portable drive, ie no way to enter D: or K:. That seemed to be easy enough last year.
What's great about it: Mostly does whar you expect
What's not so great: Reading retirns from thumb nail druves and saving them there not good

Buggier than usual

TurboTax is overall a pretty good program. Still have a few instances where items such as foreign tax credits require a user to know what the result should be and figure out why TurboTax doesn't calculate correctly. State return patches don't tell what's been patched and fixes were late this year.
What's great about it: Same format as prior years
What's not so great: More errors and later fixes than usual

E-File is Great

Have used TT for many years. The e-file option is a great time and effort saver. My returns vary from fairly straight forward to semi complex and with the use of the help links it is typically reasonable to complete the complex tax items. Especially like the ability to take the 'guided' approach or complete and review individual steps in the order most convienent for me. I understand it is also IRS dependent but some forms I needed were not available until late March.
What's great about it: Easy to use, on form help links, allows step-by-step or self selected steps.
What's not so great: Multiple up-sell attempts

Simple... but should have recommendations for next

I have been filing single for quite some time now and I need to get ideas to increase deductions, invest in either 401k or IRA(which is better), and donations to prepare me for next year.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
