Simple to use!

The program is EASY to use. It shows examples of many forms so you will know what to look for in your pile of papers. The box headings to enter info are always correctly labeled. On one form they list the new heading wording AS WELL AS the older wording in case your broker still has the forms with the older wording also noted. I have been using Turbo Tax for at least 15 years and wouldn't consider any other program for our family taxes.

Getting better

As usual, TurboTax is excellent. I've been using it since the early 2000's when I had to add commission and the amount I had already pre-paid. It's only gotten better over the years. I still don't like that I have to pay to e-file my State Taxes, but overall, it's a great product.
Product used: TurboTax Deluxe.
What's great about it: Easy to use, free Federal e-file
What's not so great: Still have to pay for State e-filing

Very easy to use!

I worked on Turbo TAX over several days. Very easy to resume, to revisit a topic, and to edit. Nice carryover feature from year to year so personal data and some figures don't need to be keyed in every year.
What's great about it: Nice summaries, easy to edit, easy to stop and resume.
What's not so great: Survivor annuity questions a bit confusing.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Almost as Easy as in the Past

This is my 17th year to use Turbo Tax. It is easy, walks me through my taxes step-by-step, and is normally fast. I had problems with updating my Turbo Tax this year for the first time ever. In the past it has always automatically updated when I loaded the program. This year it did not. It let me get almost all of the way through before it notified me that I needed to update and then it took some doing to figure out where the update "button" was located. Then, after I updated, I tried to file and it would not work. I had to leave the program, come back in, review again, then it finally let me file (after two more failed attempts). I have never been frustrated by Turbo Tax before, but I definitely was this year.
What's great about it: Easy, thorough, fast
What's not so great: have to hunt for update feature

e-file requires turbo tax to repeatedly update its software. I update it but e-filing is not being accepted because turbo tax has to be "updated". I ended up filing my mail..
What's great about it: Quick, Easy, simple
What's not so great: e-file not going through
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Not as good as previous years. I have been using different types of turbo tax from basic to Home & business for years. Not impressed with this years program.
What's great about it: digs through your paperwork, allows to see your progress with refund/owe in upper corner, references previous year taxes
What's not so great: Can't go back to a specific page, first time i attempted I was 75%, it froze on me and lost all my work, had to start ov

Gets Better Every Year!

We have used Turbo Tax for over 20 years, and it gets easier to use every year. We feel more confident having Turbo Tax guide us through tax filing than just turning everything over to an accountant. Plus we then know exactly what we filed, why we filed it as we did, and better understand how to manage our taxes going forward. Kudos to Turbo Tax!
