Turbo Tax software

Have been using Turbotax for more than 5 years, and I have been happy with its user-friendly ease of use. Major advantage of using it yearly, is it keeps track of previous years' tax returns, and keeps me apprised of changes in income, tax refunds, etc. Love that it loads information from previous year so I don't have to type in anything other than the $ amounts. Will probably always use Turbotax in the future, and recommend it to everyone - especially those who are intimidated by tax forms.
What's great about it: completes computations and ease of use

I would never consider doing my taxes without Turbotax.

What's great about it: you are guided every step of the way with every detail.
What's not so great: it was condensed to very small print, difficult to see.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Complete lack of useful help.
What's not so great: Nonstandard items are missed entirely. Unnecessary pages with pictures of tax accountants.

I have used TurboTax for years. It treats me well every year. This is the first year I have needed to use the phone support. I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to call in and get help with someone who lives in the U.S.A.!

All in all, this was faster and easier than what I anticipated.
What's great about it: Fast and easy!!
What's not so great: Need to make downloading easier for those of us that aren't use to downloading software.

Cons:
Way too much harassment for expensive state returns, audit insurance, and the initial personal data request.
Condescending message tone scattered throughout, perhaps intended as humor.
There was not always an "Explain This" when needed, especially in the "less common" options, In the E-filing section, "Back" went way too far.

On the whole, the system is quick, efficient, and accessible without training, The "Back" option is excellent and preserves what it should.

Suggestion:
Extend the "Explain This" buttons to at least partially explain important calculations. E.g., why, when I add a $100 deduction, does my refund go up by a very small number, or not at all?

Good but had problems this year

My return is complex with employment, self-employed, minister status (with exempt housing allowance), and with Social Security. TurboTax deals with these but this year I had back SS income from previous years. Each year had to be entered individually (understandable), but for each year I had to go to that years return to get info about taxable income etc. All of that was on the computer. TurboTax brought in other info from previous returns when beginning this program. Why could it not draw on those previous returns to fill in this info? Also, I entered all info as asked in this section and was leery of the refund that was building up as a result. In the review at the end all of these figures were in error and had to be corrected, erasing the refund but making my tax due about what I had expected. My confidence in TurboTax as I file this year is much lower than usual.
What's great about it: Deals well with my complex circumstances
What's not so great: Inexcusable difficulty with Social Security reporting

2 K-1s were ok 1 was a bear kept getting an error on A gross distributions and foreign tax
