TT Deluxe Machetes through the Tax Maze

Overall, TT Deluxe is great. Well-crafted Q&A leads you through all the issues applicable to your returns. Using tree logic, your initial answers lead to other questions relevant to your situation and drop the chaff. This by itself is a tour de force. If you need more explanation, help is given in several forms. If you are facile with taxes, you can dive in and fill out forms yourself. The price for all this power is very reasonable. You still have to keep records and organize 1099s etc, but TT Deluxe allows you to see the tax forest and key trees without getting lost in an impenetrable maze.
What's great about it: Clear, concise, complete, correct. Logical, methodical approach.
What's not so great: TT Deluxe is rigid. User cannot add attachments to explain amounts or other entries.

Stressless Tax Prep-2013

Turbo tax is the greatest. I have been using the product for several years. It is even better and I can definitely see how the program has become more user friendly.
I will continue to use TURBO!
What's great about it: Tubro was just very easy to follow. I feel very relaxed and confident about my 2013 filings

I was amazed at how simple my brokerage account was to import. Saves a ton of time. My return is fairly straight forward but the AMT check has had my head spinning in the past fortunately Turbo tax makes it easier. Still have some dialogue that seems to be extra but I guess if you had foreign investments you need it...
What's great about it: Import Feature / Complete Picture
What's not so great: Taxes in General / Some things still feel extraneous

Even a PhD can understand TurboTax

Really a no-brainer to use TurboTax. All the forms are included, and there are more than enough internal worksheets to help. I especially like the guidance about itemized deductions, including the numerous categories of medical expenses.
What's great about it: Understandable step-by-step instructions. Good checks and rechecks along the way.
What's not so great: Only problem was my lack of planning and organizing.

Turbo Tax Does It Again

Turbo Tax once again has helped me complete my taxes in one evening. I have used Turbo Tax for enough years that I know what information I need to complete the process.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax gives you the tools so that you control your tax preparation rather than leaving it to others.
What's not so great: There was nothing I didn't like.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Unexpected Refund!

I was not looking forward to doing the taxes as I wasn't expecting to get anything back. At best, I expected to owe nothing. I was pleasantly surprised to find a credit I didn't think I would qualify for. It was extremely easy to walk through the process and be confident that I was entitled to the credit. Without the questions, I might have assumed I didn't qualify. Thank you!
What's great about it: I liked finding I qualified for an unexpected refund.
