What would I do without TurboTax? It seems that my taxes get more complicated every year. I want to pay my fair share bur no more. I am quite confident that TurboTax finds deductions I would not find and TurboTax walks me through some complex calculations. Thanks, TurboTax
What's great about it: Logical and intuitive
What's not so great: modifying data is somewhat difficult

I have use Turbo Tax since its very first issue many years ago along with Quicken. You just keep getting better and better.
What's great about it: The ease of the easy guide
What's not so great: really don't have any
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I had trouble getting to the state tax return, I selected "Let's do it." I went around in circles, but thought I was done.
The first time thru it didn't ask me to give my income by quarter. I had to look for it and make it do it for annualized income to avoid the underpayment penalty.
Last year TT did not ask for the basis for my required minimum withdrawal from my IRA. I had to dig for it this year too. I finally found a box to check that took me there.
I feel misled -- TT federal and state preparation, but only federal e-file. Oh yes, it is on the box, but why not include state e-file in the price. I am going to file my state for free.
Did I really need Deluxe or would basic do the job just as well.

used TT Basic for years, switched to advance TT this year, I don't see much difference.

Thank you for creating a program that allows for easy tax filing and secure/effective filing in the same program.
What's great about it: Easy to use platform and thorough
What's not so great: perhaps more review of issues most have problems with on their taxes
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Worked well for federal

Next try left the flags in place and still had a lockup. restarted did a print / pdf and save TT version. Locked up again. Restarted TT trying to recover file. Came up with different numbers for refunds (Less.) Restarted TT and submitted Federal.
Will do State manually to avoid the handling fee when getting a refund. The bank TT uses to process the returns is too greedy.. Don't mind state fee to get forms but the return handling fee is excessive.
Just my personal impression a little gouging made me a little hesitant.
Ernie Joachim.
What's great about it: simple as always
What's not so great: TT locked up when I tried to remove flags set during stepbystep, remained non-responsive. No error logged

A Good Product Getting Better

I've used it successfully for at least a decade, and every year it gets easier to navigate. Maybe the best recommendation is that a friend who's a CPA and used to work for a large multinational corporation told me he uses it for his own taxes.
What's great about it: Always more user-friendly
What's not so great: Could be easier to go back in and correct or update previous entries
