If you have to file income tax--and who doesn't-- this is an efficient way to do it. It will also save you a bundle, which becomes mad money for your reward when you finish!!
What's great about it: Instructions are clear and helpful!
What's not so great: Someone needs to simplify the tax code!

Free software is more efficient and explanatory

The IRS worksheets provide a better explanation of credits than this interface that squeezes lengthy explanations into a popup sidebar that requires significant scrolling.
The user is too far removed from the tax forms to keep track of how question responses are being applied to calculations or where.
Many times it would be more logical to present the consumer with a Child Dependent Credit worksheet or Charitable donation worksheet than an isolated series of questions.
What's great about it: bright colorful graphics
What's not so great: weak on descriptions of why questions are asked, simulations of how answers will impact the filing, or showing tax forms
Pros: I had a baby, My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

What's great about it: Great for year to year usage, uses prior information
What's not so great: Needs to find previous year return on hard disk

The sales pitch is free Federal return. I knew that I had to pay for the State, but I wasn't expecting the bank fee. You should explain that in your advertising.
What's not so great: It had a hidden bank fee that was not mentioned in the sales promotion.

my big year of disappointment

I saved two returns to disk last year - now the program is telling me "this tax return does not contain any transferrable information - try choosing a different file to transfer." Well, guess what - there is no other file. In fact, I never printed MY return, just the one for my 90 yr old mother. So I'm up a creek without a teaspoon, much less a paddle. Thanks a lot, Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: walks you through everything
What's not so great: my data from 2012 would not transfer

The forums are not very helpful. No specific details are given. Leaves one searching for the correct answer for hours. Forum answers should be monitored and more detailed answers given. Afterall I have already paid for the software but Turbo tax wants you to upgrade.
What's great about it: worksheets work better
What's not so great: Questions on need to be more specific for certain parts.
