Turbo saves the year!

If I didn't have Turbo Tax I would have had a tax time breakdown last year and this one. Due to my husband having a debilitating disease, fibromyalgia, he came to a point in 2010 that we realized he couldn't work any longer. It took 2 years and an attorney to get him on SSDI. Then, they made several mistakes, but he got a lump sum payment in 2012. So we filed late last year trying to find out how to handle it. The attorney, SSDI and the IRS all told him he would pay no taxes on his money, so we paid things off that had built up. Turns out we had to pay. Just got that settled in November, and time to file again! The only problem this year was how to differentiate between SS retirement and SS disability, as CA treats it differently than the Feds. But I am done on time and have a whole year to recuperate!
Then for 2014 tax time I will also be retired, so a whole new set of questions and a whole new Turbo Tax year!

This years software was even easier than previous years, many changes that help to finish my return in a shorter time.

Not as difficult

I was a little afraid to use it in the beginning because I thought it would be too tedious. However, I found it very effective and hit questions I don't ever recall being asked. I feel I definitely got my monies worth.
What's great about it: Quick and very concise

Turbo Tax makes it easy. Save all the info from past returns and easily imorts the current years. Choice of step thru or "on your own is another great feature

Its Complete!

I believe I was able to complete my review for hundreds less than a professional. TurboTax continues to improve its product year in and year out. I just need them to concentrate a little more on K-1 and the link with 1116.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax is way cheaper than a professional
What's not so great: Not the best at K-1 Forms

I've used Turbo Tax for 4 years and I still believe it's the best way for an individual to do their own taxes.
What's great about it: overall happy just as in past years
