I always do my taxes using Turbo, however this year seem to be more confusing than in previous years. I had questions about the health programs and couldn't get a direct answer for me to make a definite decision on what to enter.
What's great about it: The explanation of how to enter info on each form
What's not so great: The inability to get an answer specific to my questions.

It still takes time

In all, The TurboTax program is helpful and well organized. I do not want to blame TurboTax for the inherent confusion in our Nation's Tax Code. Still, there are places where I have kept detailed receipts and records of expenses, but they are not asked for, despite my attempts to get credit for charitable contributions and my investment as a mentor and teacher to other people's teenagers. I am also frustrated that my medical expenses didn't quite "fit" into the pre-programmed options for deductions. After a couple of hours of entering data, I simply started thinking "what the heck." I just did the best I could and settled for a refund that is about half of what I expected.
I am overall pleased with the program, but wish I could have gotten a bigger refund. I would probably not have gotten any additional monies by paying a tax preparer hundreds of dollars to do my taxes for me.
What's great about it: Program is well thought-through

This would have been pretty simple but TurboTax never asks if you bought a second home. When you enter the Deductions and Credits, Mortgage Interest sub-topic, you can add a "lender" but the software doesn't allow you to detail what the lender's loan is for #e.g. RV, Vacation home, etc.#. As you progress through the checks and reviews, TurboTax looks at the addition of the new lender as a refinancing/new mortgage applied to the main home. It will ask you for a yes or no answer. However, if you respond no, it never asks what the loan is applicable to. Perhaps, legally, it doesn't matter. I don't know. I would feel much more comfortable separating the two loans and reporting them as such.
What's great about it: Easy to use, easy to follow.
What's not so great: Noticed a problem this year when wanting to reflect mortgage interest following purchase of "second home" (RV) in 2013.

Just keeps getting better

I started using TurboTax at the urging of my fiancé a few years ago, but I was hesitant. I like to read all the details to make sure I'm paying the correct amount of tax and I'm getting the deductions I'm entitled to. Turbo tax has those details, and they're explained more clearly than in the tax instructions. I've made errors in the past because of misunderstanding the tax booklet instructions, but was pleasantly surprised with Turbo Tax. It really is easier with each year, even with the unexpected "things" that happen during the year to change how I file.
What's great about it: Detailed explanations for what you need. Help available when questions.
What's not so great: Can't think of any!

Need to make option of applying refund of Federal and Connecticut on the same page as the options of refund by check or direct deposit to bank.Current arrangement is possible but very cumbersome and inconvenient
