Not as Good as in the past???

I needed to re input all of my personnel info and did not have to in past years??
in the past was able to down load employer info, investment info and bank info.. it did not this year???

Just not as happy as in the past, got more difficult instead of better. the review is not as good as it wasin the past

O&G royalty income reports can be improved

This is a second year problem - the R I was needed for two items - 2 wells.There are either 3 or 4 phases in which data must be pulled together - I suspect that if it fails to match prior year identification - then that is pulled into the reporting process and made a new item. My listing evolved into 12 additional items on just the 2 entries needed. Last year I just gave up but this year I finally ignored the error review and was able to keep the report to the 2 items for reporting but gave up on doing anything more to adjust those costs as would normally be allowed. It is a small part of the income stream but should be an easier report to make. I was about ready to cancel it all and face the consequences.Thiis area was reworked more than 6 times to get the 2 required numbers to stay put..

21013 Turbotax Deluxe for windows

Some things just do Not change year to year.
1st item - I do is go to forms and input my info, i.e.(W2,1099,1098).
2nd item - Make a new spead sheet for my deductions and copy over my deductions collected so far, i.e.(medical,pills,Job info, bank / money accounts)
3rd item - Sort everything and fill in some of the forms.
4th item - Start over with the step by Step. Helps me to double check.
What I found this year was that supporting details could NOT be accessed while using "Step by Step" and I had to keep switching to forms. I wanted to double check my self and not miss anything. Info that was clearly meant for a form line was Not always clear in the Steps.

Hint for Intuit next year: make right-click work in steps for (input / view) supporting details like in the forms. (For example: Taxpayer Doctor=amount, Spouse doctor=amount, Dependent, Interest bearing accounts at the same Bank work that way too, etc....)
At least, I use the details that way. Helps the Math too.

Excellent Program

I have used TurboTax for many years and always rely on it to be sure that I do not miss anything. Anyone who can read a question and answer the question can do their own taxes with TurboTax. I recommend it without reservation.
What's great about it: Easy to use.
What's not so great: Does not update automatically as promised.

Reduced my stress

I initially resisted buying Turbo Tax. Fortunately, my wife insisted I buy Turbo Tax years ago, in part because she saw how stressed I became doing taxes.
Now, I thank her a dozen times each year while doing taxes!
I am impressed how well it is designed for the task at hand ... explains each step, easy to stop to get data, take a break, move between sections.
As it collects data to complete tax forms, it catches errors within the tax year and between tax years if you have used Turbo Tax for several years.
I have used this for many years, and never hesitate to continue to purchase for the next tax year.
What's great about it: thorough, easy to work through, well designed for the task, catches errors and inconsistencies
What's not so great: Rigid model for estimating estimated tax payments for next tax year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I love that the information is transferred from year to year. It makes filing so much quicker than having to re-enter the information each year. Turbo Tax is extremely user friendly.
