Turbo Tax 2013

Works great for me. Have been using Turbo Tax for several years. Walks you through each category so you don't forget a possible deduction or an income item.
What's great about it: It walks you through each category.
What's not so great: A little slow opening up.

You don't need a CPA

We have used Turbo Tax for years and have never had a problem. I recommend it to everyone.
What's great about it: Walks you through entire process
What's not so great: Updates-although worth it-take awhile to download
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

1) I needed to file an amended ny state 2012 return - original pc was broken so I installed tt 2012 on another - recovered file & successfully imported - but turbo tax wanted me to PURCHASE nystate - which I already owned! - I just downloaded a fillable pdf from NYS website , filled and filed that - did not use ttax.
2) 2013 turbo tax refused to install on the very same machine I had just installed the 2012 version - older laptop but still a core2 duo running win 7. so, went to a backup machine - an old mac. turbo tax installed ok , but WOULD NOT RUN - message saying machine was not compatible -. OK, it was a core duo, not a core 2 duo - but, honestly, I can't see why ttax would need much horsepower. ok, so now i go to another, newer mac mini - the turbo tax disk gets stuck in the drive and does not show in the finder - I had to copy the installation from the older mac over the network to the mac mini (by the way, it's hooked up to my tv so was kind of awkward to use) this worked and i was able to run ttax 2013 after this - doing taxes seemed like a pleasure
What's great about it: ez and quick tax entry
What's not so great: problems installing

Turbo Tax Is easy to use and understand and i feel it helps maximize my return. It prevents miscalculations and missed deductions.

Moving and partial residency

Everything went great until I started on state. I had 2 states to do and it wanted to know about double taxing and incomes from both and who gets what and when and such. Called the help center and got through on the FIRST ring. That alone was amazing with only 4 days to go. The lady that helped me stumbled through it with me and did a good job of guessing at some of the questions asked. We made it to the end with no errors. YEAH! Thanks again TurboTax; Iv'e been using it since it first came out.
What's not so great: Need to have better info and what lines to look at when you have to claim income and taxes for 2 states.

Still can do taxes on my own

TurboTax continues to allow me to confidantly file my taxes without going to accountants.
What's great about it: Ability to cycle between guided process and detailed look at forms.
What's not so great: Would like to click on a calculated number and get information on the path used for the calculation
