Love Turbo Tax!

I am over 70 and taking my RMD from my IRA account. TurboTax reminds me to contribute to my IRA. I am retired and I don't have any earned income and am not eligible to contribute. TurboTax should know that and not ask me.
What's great about it: I don't have to worry about the math calculations.
What's not so great: Sometimes asks questions that don't apply.

Have been using TurboTax for years. Have never been disappointed. They walk you through each step of the return. They ask the same questions as the other "Tax Preparers" and produce the same results.
What's great about it: Everything I have come to expect from Turbotax. Always easy.

too expensive on State

I have done my own taxes for 40 years. I know less about understanding the tax code by using Turbo Tax but as an employee Turbo is much easier.
I will consider switching next year after over 10 years with Turbo Tax because of the expensive State returns.
What's great about it: Brings information over from previous year
What's not so great: Expensive fees for State

The friendly interface helps establish and maintain confidence that everything will work out as it should. The behind-the-scene knowledge and calculations work fast and effectively. At the end of the process, a nice summary of one's status is given.
What's great about it: Reliably systematic, good hand-holding
What's not so great: Occasionally obscure about uncommon items

Program is wonderful. So appreciative of the telephone support for the Mac.
What's great about it: The step by step guide was by far the best its been in years
What's not so great: they forgot one little warning to turn off program to install the updates

If I have to do taxes, TurboTax is the way to go!

I love using TurboTax! It's so easy and walks you through the process step-by-step. It asks you questions, gives you the option to review your answers and is just generally a very user-friendly piece of software!!
What's great about it: Easy! Walks you step-by-step trhough everything!

Very hard to figure out why certain amounts got taxed. Also, I followed all prompts but still had things to fill in and "errors" at the end that were mostly things that should have been filled out.
What's great about it: I found the thrift shop value tool very helpful
What's not so great: Very hard to find adequate answers on your on-line tool for AMT, 529 QTP and taxes on certain items

The usual - fast and easy

My taxes went very fast. It took longer to gather up all my paperwork than to actually do the taxes. Very pleased with results
What's great about it: Enumeration of everything I need to consider
