Mountains of paper work made easy
on April 12, 2014

I liked the fact that I didn't have to do not one calculation. Didn't have to shuffle through all the different forms. Basically, quite refreshing to fill out and great help from the system. How much simpler would it have been if there was only a flat tax rate?
What's great about it: I would use Turbo-tax again

We neglected to take an RMD from one of our IRAs. Turbo Tax pointed this out and submitted the form asking for a waiver of the penalty. Thank you TurboTax. That's above and beyond.
What's great about it: Submitted all forms we needed to the IRS.
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

Filing Electronic? Dont trust TTax with AGI value!
on April 12, 2014
Posted by: frbcoindude
I filed a Federal extension.. IF I had filed by the due date (the AGI would have been in IRS records.... Since I was after that date...IRS said that an AUTOMATIC value of 0 is set for AGI.
et, TTAx gave me an AGI and not sure WHERE it came from. AND, it did not match my value I filed in my final return in January.
Hence, since the filing of my extension was after the Mid November date, IRS set my AGI to ZERO.
Gee, seems that Turbo tax could figure THAT out.
What's not so great: 4 attempts to file electronically

Great product!
on April 12, 2014

Overall, I'm a big fan of Turbo Tax and Intuit products. I've been using Turbo Tax for years and find that it gets easier to use all the time. However when I fill out a schedule C, for instance, and have to go back (particularly in the automobile use section), I have to recheck all the buttons again. Sometimes I have to triple check something, and it requires me to go through all the steps each time. If that could be changed, it would be wonderful! Anyway, great product and I'll continue to use Turbo Tax to file my returns. Thanks!
What's great about it: Love the ease of use and the changes made so that accessing information is easier.
What's not so great: Don't like that if you have to go back in certain screens, you have to makes the same choices again and again.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy and Quick
on April 12, 2014

We had been paying a very large fee to a tax consultant for many years but decided that we could do it ourselves and are so glad that we did. The questions we had were all answered by using the help feature and when we were done we compared the documents to what we had paid a lot of money for last year (because my husband was a skeptic) and saw all the same documents. Using TurboTax saved us over $700. Yea!!!
What's great about it: Directions walk you through the process, help provides well written answers to all your questions
What's not so great: having to pay extra to efile state return

IRS increased my refund
on April 12, 2014

On my '12 return I failed to check "yes" on a Sch F line E. I had checked yes years previously. The IRS caught my oversight and my refund was substantially more. TT might look into making my oversight less possible.
