GOOD-BUT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Overall..TT is my tax s/w for many yrs... going back to the days of the floppy, then the next generation, then CD or Internet DL.
I like the feature of xfer from prev yr to new return..
CONS: I told TT I live in a state which does not have State Filing Tax reqmnts., yet it will ask if you want to dl the State tax..
-When you finish a section, it takes you back to the top, instead of where you just left or on to the next step.
What's great about it: The various steps it runs you through

The error-checking part produces notifications that are unclear. Example: line m on form HI-117 needs to be completed (or something like that) doesn't provide enough information

not as well integrated as earlier versions

I'm used to both using the questioning by the program and going directly to the forms when I know them well. It's getting harder to do that now. I also found that when I asked questions within the forms, I often didn't get informative answers.
I think you're trying to make it easier for those who just follow the questioning method of doing a whole form, but haven't integrated it well with the forms. It was better a couple of years ago and seems to get worse each year as the questioning become more inclusive.
What's great about it: very complete
What's not so great: not as well integrated

2013 tax return

used for 2013 filing. if I did not double check, then there are extra duplicate records that may mislead in the investment category. I was ale to double check each step and delete those duplicate records. My guess is I did not do it all at once, so when I return to do it, somehow software think i will enter a new record. Not exactly sure. Yet, double check did help me to have a clean records.

This the the third year in a row that I have purchased and used TurboTax. I likely will do the same next year. It's easy to use. My taxes were done in no time.
