Continues to Perform Well

I continue to use TurboTax for my federal and state taxes, and it continues to perform well. I depend on it to keep current with tax law changes. There is usually once each year when I need to go directly to the tax form to enter data completely. The program is not very graceful switching from one mode to the other, making it difficult for me to override data entered in the interview. This is a pretty minor complaint. I plan to use TurboTax again next year.
What's great about it: Organized Methodical Path Through A Chaotic Topic
What's not so great: Minor: Still too difficult to associate the interview with the tax form.

Good tool, but too expensive (hidden costs)

It is a nice tool, but I'm not sure if I'm going to use it again. My taxes aren't that complicated so I don't need all the extra frills. I like helping out the government by e-filing, but I shouldn't have to pay so much for the privilege.
What's great about it: It keeps your organized & can file electronically.
What's not so great: It costs too much once you add the fees to file.

This is a great guide. Agonizing but doable?

I've used TT for years now and I doubt if any company could beat it. I dread the process every year as everyone does but this is better than paying a fortune for professional help and you have to get all the information ready anyway. Wjat a sense of accomplishment!
What's great about it: Clear, easy to follow and well-supported.
What's not so great: I wasn't clear on some legal matters but Ii doubt if any program could have been any more capable. I

When you are in a deduction and say "done" when it returns to the main deductions page (Fed) it should return you to the area you were working on not "home" on the deductions page so you have to scroll back down to the next category
What's great about it: easy to navigate
What's not so great: doesn't return to category working on when "done" in deductions

Been using TurboTax since 1995

I have been using TurboTax since 1995. I have been through a divorce and opening/closing of a Sole Proprietorship business. TurboTax has been there every year keeping me out of trouble with the IRS. Fantastic!
What's great about it: Flexible, accurate, easy to understand
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Poor Functionality with Windows 8

After being placed on hold for hours at a time, finally got ahold of someone willing to help me. Unfortunately, the problem was never figured out. Ended up completing my tax return a total of three times, more than three days spent checking into the error and reinserting information, and never was able to file electronically - this process was extremely frustrating.
Gut reaction is that the present tax program is incompatible with Windows 8.
What's not so great: Never was able to efile federal return.
