Long term success

TurboTax has been my "Go to" tax preparation software for seven years. I've tried others and some tax preparation specialists but none worked as well.
What's great about it: Years of use, always effective
What's not so great: Multiple solicitations for purchase, I'll buy when I'm ready

First the bad. I got all the way to file and it wouldn't let me because it said there was an update. I ran the update. Went back to file, same problem. Repeated several times. Eventually I quit and restarted and suddenly there were no new updates. The application should handle that much more gracefully.
Now the good. The software is simple. Sometimes terms can be confusing, but TurboTax has lots of online help to assist in understanding terminology as well as tax law. This alone makes it worth the price. I've been using TT for years and would recommend it for anyone who's taxes don't warrant an accountant.
What's great about it: easy, quick
What's not so great: some minor product bugs

Makes my life easier!

I have used Turbo Tax for years. My husband and I both work w2 jobs and are each self-employed on the side. We have four kids and a home. So our taxes are complicated. Turbo Tax gives me the confidence in calculations and deductions that I need to do it on my own. I also appreciate that Turbo Tax transfers information year to year - saving me much time!
What's great about it: Easy Navigation

Makes filing taxes really easy

I really like using Turbo Tax to file. It's easy to keep track of everything and easy to find answers to common questions.
What's great about it: It's easy to move through the steps and the explanations are excellent.

Fairly easy to use. Not sure if I received all possible deductions. Like the transfer of information from prior tax return.
What's great about it: Lead me through the process
What's not so great: Difficult to understand how to handle estimated taxes

College Student Woes

If Turbo Tax has a digestible tutorial about a student entering and then proceeding thru their undergraduate degree program at a college, I'm not aware of it. A tutorial of that type would be VERY welcome. Sorting out the following is extremely confusing:
a. Whether to keep my daughter's return separate or included with ours.
b. Whether to put the Form 1098-T on her return or ours.
c. What expenses to include and what funding sources-accounts to leverage so they CAN be included.
d. What expenses to have the student keep track as they become more independent.

Overall, my daughter's transition into adulthood is VERY confusing to manage from a tax perspective. It seemed like it was easier for me because I immediately joined the military upon graduation from high school and turning 18, but maybe I just never realized until now what my parents went through.
What's great about it: Everything was consolidated in one place
What's not so great: Could have done more to leverage funds saved for Daughter's College
