easy to use software

it was easy to type out my information and have it transferred on to the correct tax forms it save me a lot of head aches and i didn't have to deal with the tax service prepare people who charge a lot to do your taxes thanks
What's great about it: easy to follow instructions
What's not so great: none i can think of
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

This year, for the first time, I found error checking to be less than optimal--mainly the state (IL) return.
First, though, a comment about Fed. I completed my taxes error free in February. But, when I went to file on 4/11, new errors popped up, and I fixed them. On 4/12, I had to do a check for state, and a new error popped up on my Fed (I made no download updates). It's a minor error, but still--why is that happening.
State is different. Got the error free indication and filed the state on 4/11. At filing time, I was told additional info needed--why was it okay before I hit send, and not after? Anyhow, got that done, but I did not notice it introduced another error that was not caught--until I got a reject email.
I was pleased that going back to TT allowed me to fix the error and re-file, but this was an inconvenient experience, and it still has yet to fully play out okay.
As to the specific problem--IL form 1040, line 36 would not allow me to enter 0 refund--I wanted to apply refund to estimated tax for next year. I could not type an amount in line 38--amount to apply to estimated tax, so I had to go into override. Which possibly knocked out the error checking. Please review you code for IL 1040 lines 35-39, and ensure it has full flexibility without requiring override.
I'm still a fan of TurboTax and hope this review helps with product development and maintenance.
What's great about it: Flexible, pulls in prior year data, lots of features
What's not so great: Getting more complicated to work as tax law gets more complex

Great Tax Program

It's just a great program to use. I like how it compare against the previous years tax return. This was the first time I got an error that my tax return was not accepted. But was able to identify those errors with Turbo Tax and re-file. Hope that go thru.
What's great about it: I like the guided tour and questions asked per section

Turbo Tax is and has always been a very good program to figure and file taxes. It asks the correct questions and is a good value for the money.

Always easy and effective

This program is great for filing taxes. I have very straight forward accounting, so I can't speak to it's effectiveness for more complicated returns with rentals, stock losses or investments ... but for the everyday filer, I can say with certainty that this program is perfect.
What's great about it: Clear & understandable questions, easy to navigate, and fast

Essential

I've used TurboTax for years and find it essential for taming the beast. I appreciate that it carries forward last year's information and it proactively asks questions. One year it prompted me about an available deduction arising from a refi that I would never have thought of. One improvement I'd like to see: there are times when I would like to make a note about something, like how I determined a particular stock's basis, and would like to have a way to attach notes to the step in Easy Step and to the retained electronic copy of the filed return for future reference. The Flag feature is useful for it's intended purpose and can function as a notes feature sort of, but a true post it note feature would be helpful.
What's great about it: Thorough, easy to use
What's not so great: Need a way to attach "notes to file" for future reference

We have used Turbo Tax for many years and it has helped us feel safe, secure and accurate. We have never had any problems or been audited.
What's great about it: We can complete our taxes at a time that is best for us.
What's not so great: Nothing
