Been using it for years. Great!

I have been using TurboTax Deluxe for years. I like that you can submit up to five returns with the purchased CD. I was confused by the Education credits this year, and went to an accountant/tax preparer who came up with the same numbers I arrived at with the TurboTax software.
My daughter tried the on-line free basic program, but I ended up doing her taxes on my purchased program. I did not prefer the basic or feel as confident with it...go with the Deluxe!
What's great about it: Ease of use. Links to support.
What's not so great: Education Credits programing somewhat confusing.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

As frustrating to use as ever

Changes from year to year do not justify the price of the product. especially given that persistent bugs remain from year to year. For example, after printing some forms, parts of the information that display on-screen are missing on the printed versions. Another serious bug: TT somehow generated duplicate 1099-Misc forms. When I deleted either, both disappeared. I found a work-around--zero the amount on one, but I should not have to spend an hour or more every year finding work-arounds for bugs. Next, year, I'll try the competing product again. Also, I hate the running refund. How stupid to estimate my refund after I've entered only minimal information.
What's great about it: The forms are there
What's not so great: Expensive given minimal changes from year to year, buggy
Pros: I bought or sold investments

0 does not equal blank

The federal taxes went well. However, after paying to file the state return electronically, the program threw an error essentially complaining about state withholding on a 1099B. Given that I had none, I was confused. Apparently, when asked about the state withholding I had entered a zero. Some program expected a blank. Help identified the cause of the problem, but the method to find where I had entered the data. I could not locate where I had entered the errant 0 by retracing my steps using the step by step method. After a couple of frustrating attempts in the 1099B section, I finally went to the tax forms and overwrote the value, by deleting the 0. To add insult to injury, although I had originally selected direct withdrawal to pay the state taxes that were due, filing the state electronically again had not saved this selection, resulting in a payment form printing for the taxes due. I guess I'm mailing the state a check despite intending to pay using direct withdrawal.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to use
What's not so great: After learning cause of error, couldn't locate where I had entered the data using step by step method.

I have been using Turbo Tax for more than 15 years. It's been well worth purchasing for the deductions it has found and hours it has saved me!
What's great about it: Import from previous year reduces entries by hand
What's not so great: None
