Third year in a row I have used TurboTax. Cannot beat the price! Loading the prior years information is pre-set and saves a lot of time. Very easy to follow and their customer service is excellent.
What's great about it: Ease of Operation, transfers previous year flawlessly.
What's not so great: Had to stop midstream to download updates-needed help.

Downloads really help

I've used TurboTax for many years only once falling for a free offer from a competitor - never again. The downloads from my financial institutions save a lot of time and are always accurate. The competitor's product screwed up most of my IRA transactions, treating them as taxable. I'll stay with Turbotax
What's great about it: I was able to download most of my numbers from my financial institutions
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Makes life easy

My taxes went quickly and efficiently. Import feature is right on and saves a lot of time. I have used TurboTax for about 15 years, so pretty familiar with style and substance. Tries to sell me extras all the time, so that is not perfect.
What's great about it: Guide helpful and complete, search features worked perfectly
What's not so great: some items well hidden

Some good, some bad!

At some points it ran me in circles and had to find a way out. No instructions. BUT, this is the first time I have had it happen in many years of using Turbo-tax. Would not accept a Canada zip code.
What's great about it: Very good as usual* *see cons
What's not so great: Kept changing Canada tp CA on foreign Country. Maybe CA IS a foreign country!

I continue to like the ease of filing the tax return forms using TurboTax.
What's great about it: Most pages were easily understood
What's not so great: Rules on calculating AZ taxable municipal bond interest that is Fed Tax exempt needs improvement.

Accurate Assessment
on April 11, 2014

I enjoyed the ease of use and the path it followed to orderly completion of my tax preparation process. Although my return was not complicated, it seemed to be capable of taking me much further if needed. Each year it gets better and easier or "smarter." Next we will have it with voice directed info/data entry.
I hope that the data entered is secure and not able to be shared with marketers and businesses that would like to gain access to other people's tax records and liabilities.
What's great about it: Led me through it easily in a productive order
What's not so great: Is more difficult with the State return than the State e-file site.

Almost unhappy
on April 11, 2014
Posted by: Destructomutt
Being a Mac user, I was frustrated by the validation errors that occurred while trying to e-file. I would have been very unhappy to have to mail my returns and then try to get my state e-file fee refunded. Luckily, the fix was simple - use the menu function to update the program instead of the auto-install update feature. Still, there shouldn't be platform specific problems anymore.
What's great about it: Been using Turbo-Tax for over 20 years, still easy to use and clear.
What's not so great: Validation errors while trying to e-file were disconcerting.

Responses to help questions only gave answers to downloaded version. They did not help with the purchased disk version, i.e., there was no left menu or the triple white lines to click on. This was very frustrating and I couldn't fix the problem so had to delete entire program and start from scratch. Could never find a phone number to call anyone to get answer. Have used TT for 4 years and this was the first time I ran into problems.
What's great about it: got submitted on time
What's not so great: website help notes referred to download product which is different from the purchased CD product
