20th Year

I have been using TurboTax for many years and I believe I have saved money compared with using less reliable individual Tax professionals.
What's great about it: I like the guided tour through all my tax liabilities. TurboTax certainly does the legwork for me.
What's not so great: I don't care for all the advertisements for all the Intuit sponsored vendors.

I've sent emails 2 previous years to Turbo Tax about the issue with non-resident income in second state. Just gave up this year with the second state--mistakes with second state both previous years. Luckily, the state caught it. I get a K-1 from my father's estate. Turbo tax does not know how to handle non-resident income for the second state (WV). I have to manually input the data and I'm not sure it gets put in the correct column. It's trial and error. No problem for first state, except it doesn't ask for direct deposit of refunds on either state--only federal.
So you have to go into forms and input direct deposit--absurd. Otherwise, I get a check from the non-resident state and a debit card from my resident state.
What's great about it: Easy to input Federal information and one state
What's not so great: Doesn not handle non-resident income for second state at all
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurbiTax going downhill fast

Turbotax seems to require more and more info to do what it used to to do, info that even the IRS doesn't care about. I'm constantly getting tripped up by results that don't make any sense. You have to go to the forms view and click on just about every box to find out there's an additional work sheet that was never mentioned in the "easystep" process. If it's necessary to do the taxes right, why wasn't it in easystep? You never know when you can input data in easystep, or on the form or only the worksheet for the form. Turbotax better get it's act together, because I've just about had it.
What's not so great: Turbotax used to be easy to use, but it's getting worse and worse evry year.

Easier than last year. If your single, healthy and don't own a house NJ doesn't let you deduct anything!
What's great about it: seemed to be even quicker
What's not so great: paying for state return

online q&a is not real-time
What's great about it: ease of use
What's not so great: needed questions answered and your on-line q&a was inadequate
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Loved it...! Again! This is sooo easy and I liked the comparison of the itemized deduction to the minimum. The program showed me what was most appropriate for my filing.
Thanks, great job!
What's great about it: Ease of walkthrough and automatic comparison

I can't imagine doing my taxes without the guidance of Turbo Tax and I'm not ready to dish out big bucks to hire some accountant to do it for me. I like being able to just import my financial information which makes it easier than having to type everything in. It'd be even better if my W2s magically filled themselves into TurboTax. I hope their product manager is working on that!
The only drawback was trying to go back to review certain sections. I could picture what it looked like in my head on the actual form but had trouble finding it. I basically had to wait until I was done and ready to file before going back. That was extremely frustrating. And because I'm on a mac I had to do some weird thing and restart my computer before it would allow me to e-file. Other than that, it's still a great product.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Tough to review info midstream and trouble efiling on mac
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments
