Have been using Turbo Tax for quite some time and it seems to get better and easier each year. It is very thorough and easy to understand and so very helpful when it imports information for you. Keep up the good work.

Relieved my "APRIL" nerves

I am 78 years old and still able to use TURBO TAX. I find that I need to be a little better organized for next year and it will be easier and faster to complete my returns.

MIXING DEDUCTIONS FOR W2'S AND 1099'S

I HAD TO HAVE A TAX PRO REVIEW MY FORMS SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE TURBO-TAX IS NOT VERY CLEAR ON HOW TO KEEP DEDUCTIONS FOR W2 FORMS (SCHEDULE A) SEPERATE FROM DEDUCTIONS FOR 1099'S (SCHEDULE C) AND I HAVE BOTH. THIS IS REALLY A PROBLEM AND WILL GET YOU AUDITED IF YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF THIS.
What's great about it: CHEAP
What's not so great: ASKS YOU THE SAME QUESTIONS BECAUSE IT IS DUPLICATING YOUR DEDUCTIONS
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax is so easy!

I've used TurboTax for several years. Love it! I hate filing taxes - too intimidating. Always afraid I will make an unintentional mistake. TurboTax walks me through all the steps easily. I do like being able to purchase additional Audit protection too!
What's great about it: Step by step process and reviews for errors
What's not so great: Difficult to track down specific form/page from "Help"; would like a renewal fee rather than new purchase each year

Not bad, but...

Last year I deducted for my children's 529 college accounts, which is deductible in Indiana. The deduction came up right when I was going through the easy step process. This year it did not, and I had to search both TurboTax and online to find it. Even then, it was not easy to do, and it eventually took me through some Indiana questions that it had not previously. I thought the Indiana return was initially rushed through, with very few questions like I have been used to each year. And I've been using TurboTax for many years.
I also sold a rental property, and that also took a lot of digging around to find where I was supposed to include that information. Without that rental, I may not need to purchase TurboTax in the future. If this year's process is indicative of changes, it may not be worth my money, especially when I can just file online.
What's great about it: Filing was relatively easy, same as usual.
What's not so great: I had to search for a few things that should have shown up automatically.

2013 TurboTax Assessment

The process for reviewing the details supporting total values is not as intuitive as past versions of this software. It takes too much trial and error to find the details that total values for the various income, taxes, and credits categories are based upon. We rate this capability as POOR. Do not like the increasing use of advertizing and the price increase for filing state tax returns.
What's great about it: Help files re excess salary deferrral for 401(k) very good
What's not so great: Organization for reviewing details is NOT intuitive
