Purchased Deluxe

When I went to file my taxes, the program asked me to purchase the state option for filing my state return. In the past both the federal and state filing were free for one filing of both returns with the purchase of the Deluxe. Why not now?

Trouble with estimates for 2014 - could not override computer calculations - other than that, the program was very good.

What's not so great: NY STATE PENSION EXCLUSION

A little sloppy

I have been using Turbotax for many years. There were a lot of little bugs this year. In the past, during installation, there was an automatic process to update to the latest configuration. Had to search through tabs and manually request it this year. For Itemized Deductions there was a notice that the IRS would release requirements by Mar. 30 and to check back. After updating Turbotax for the latest data, the warning still stayed there, although a message said I had updated to the latest configuration. There also seemed to be a number of ambiguous nomenclature incidents. I'll probably use it again next year, but this was the sloppiest version yet. Need to use some independent V&V.
What's great about it: Same user friendly format. Love the automatic downloading investment details
What's not so great: Nothing major

Outstanding Tax Preparation Software!

This tax software is really user-friendly and very intuitive to use.. I would recommend that the software be able to detect earlier tax files on your computer and not just the immediate prior year. I had earlier years on my hard drive (2012 etc), but it was searching for 2013 data, which I had mispaced on a thumbdrive. It took me weeks to locate the particular thumbdrive containing my 2013 data. It would have been less frustrating if I could have transferred the 2012 data and then updated it. I know I am asking TurboTax to foresee that people will misplace last year's data, but might have an earlier year on hand.
What's great about it: Really easy even for the higly skilled who tend to complicate everything.
What's not so great: You must have the immediate prior year's return on your computer or on an accessible drive to import tax information.

Doing taxes is always a sobering experience but Turbo Tax takes away much of the burden. Every year seems easier with TT and they keep up with the tax code so I don't have to waste my tme.

Great, easy tax filing for every situation

Fantastic. I need more work on the Kiddie tax section. The step-by-step section said the tax on the kiddie's was "zero" but that was not the case.
What's great about it: Streamlined and easy to use
What's not so great: More work on the Kiddie Tax section.
