2013 Taxws

I bought the Deluxe software and would gladly tell others to use it. It allowed me to itemize and look at every way I was able to save money. I was just truly amazed at the proficiency of the software. I also like that the money is just mine. I do not have to pay someone to do it. Congrats... this software was designed well done.
What's great about it: Ease of Use; Quick; Very Helpful
What's not so great: I did not find one

Been using TurboTax for well over a decade. Always makes filing taxes as painless as possible,
What's great about it: Prompts for all the info needed to avoid missing anything

Uneven program

Used to be easy to understand the next steps and options for filing, but now TurboTax keeps trying to force one to sign up for state e-filing. I already paid for the program and it shouldn't be so difficult to print and file my state return. I will not use TurboTax next year.

Fast, Fun and Easy

I have been using Turbotax for many years. The software has gone through evolutionary changes through the years that have made this product easier to use. I often recommend Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Complete worksheets instead of forms
What's not so great: Having to make sure to buy the package that included the State
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2013 version has two serious flaws

The 2013 version required using an administrator ACCOUNT (not just a "run as administrator" option) to install the state tax forms as updates. I posted a work around, but this is an unacceptable flaw in Intuit's update methods. I've had other similar problems with Intuit products not conforming with Windows standard procedures for program updates. This has to end. I'll leave Quicken (and Turbo Tax) as soon as I can find a similar finance software package that import my data.
The second serious flaw is the inability to either 1) upload existing tax files from the desktop version to the online version or 2) to upload Quicken files into the Online version. I was left without being able to work on my taxes remotely. (I prefer not to work on financial files on my portable as that it can be stolen with important personal information.) This seems to be an easy fix--why not, Intuit?
What's great about it: Fairly easy to use, can integrate with Quicken (not flawlessly)
What's not so great: Serious upgrade bug, unable to load current files into online version.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Well structured

Generally speaking the filing is fast ,easy and accurate.
Some unusual situation make me read lot of documents any way (my case,handling of foreign assets is rather complicated)
It is not 100% clear yet . I understand that is not because of TurboTax but tax system.

Been using Turbo Tax for 18 years now, and it remains true to form. Very thorough and covers all my needs for doing my taxes.
What's great about it: Thorough, covers everything
What's not so great: E-file for State Waaaayyyyy too expensive
