Generally, very helpful for private filing long form which isn't too complicated. A little esoteric but one gradually learns. But almost every year it talks about something I need to do but won't show me where I need to go or where the problem is in my tax return. It might be simply that I needed to put a zero somewhere but I haven't a clue. You need a search mode! Thanks
What's great about it: fairly fast for itemizing deductions
What's not so great: no search mode

Remember what was entered
on April 10, 2014

I get real tired clicking on the answers for the same questions over and over whenever I got back to revisit a section I'm not sure about. Why can't your program remember what was already answered?
Next, it took me about 4 hours to figure out where to enter my HSA contribution. Why can't your program ask the question? Did you contribute to your HSA. IN FACT, it does ask that then it doesn't ask you for the answer. I could have easily made a huge mistake if I didn't keep trying to figure that out because the program didn't care if I entered it or not.
What's great about it: Easier than paper and pen
What's not so great: Must re-enter, answer the same questions, over and over and over

Software Updates made for bad filing experience!
on April 10, 2014

What should have taken less than 10 -15 minutes max turned into an hour long adventure when filing my Federal Return - Intuit/Turbo Tax should have all of its software updates/patches completed prior to 4/1. The fact that it took well over 25+ minutes to download, install and restart Turbo tax is unacceptable!
The whole process of filing my Federal Return through Turbo Tax's e-file was slow, cumbersome and not a very user friendly experience. I've been using your software for at least a decade and this is the first time I'm truly disappointed with the performance of your software. Seriously thinking about using an accountant next year.

Minor Typo in the State Estimated Tax Area
on April 10, 2014
Posted by: BeerAmbassador
State Estimated taxes referred to 2011 and 2012 instead of 2013 and 2014. Easy to figure out, but could be confusing to some.
What's great about it: Consistent
What's not so great: Some questions are asked after an answer is given in another area
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Very confusing how Coverdell-ESA (1099-Q) was transferred to PA state return. PA does not tax withdrawals from Coverdell-ESA accounts.
What's great about it: You made other taxes/estimated taxes entries very clear this year. Used to be very confusing.
What's not so great: Entry of 1099-Q very confusing - both under income and deductions. First ended up owing taxes. I had to call TurboTax.

Poor Health Care Advise
on April 10, 2014

Your program asks if you have health insurance. It should say, "Do you have health care insurance or ANOTHER QUALIFYING PROGRAM like a health care sharing ministry. It's better than insurance and qualifies under the ACA rules. You should learn about it before recommending different insurance plans.
What's great about it: None
What's not so great: Misleading to the general public
