MISLEADING

Thought tax return had been sent. Close to April 15, checked return and turbo had not sent returns both for my sister and ours(husband and wife) despite of confirmation. Good thing we checked because my sister's refund had not been received and it was more than 21 days already. On mine, I kept on checking our credit card and none had been paid to IRS. When got back to turbo, there were additional payment that I did not see as I went thru the program. Called Intuit and Myose was nice to help me out.
What's great about it: Easy to follow insructions
What's not so great: Misleading.

My one complaint is that TurboTax assumes that all municipal bond interest that is tax-exempt at the federal level is taxable at the state level. Not so! Bonds from the state in question and from U.S. possessions are tax-exempt in the state as well. TurboTax should give the user the ability to alter the amount transferred from the federal return accordingly.
What's great about it: Remembers info from prior year returns; can download all info from certain Forms 1099 directly; easy to follow
What's not so great: Treats all municipal bond interest as taxable at state level (see below)

Usually I can complete a 1040, but since retirement, I have several investments and work odd jobs where I am a contract worker. So many forms but Turbo Tax makes it easy. Ability to download from broker makes it easier and cheaper than a CPA. But it still is a pain. However, i have no good way to improve it except to convince Congress to pass a flat tax.
What's great about it: Easier and cheaper than CPA
What's not so great: Still difficult with so many 1099

This is at least 11 years with TurboTax (I think more than that). It gets better, takes less time, gives more confidence, each year. Well done!
What's great about it: Better every year

Crashed after paying for e-file but before transmission. Since I didn't save I had to repeat the last 25 minutes of entering info.

Every thing worked well after got program loaded and finally found the correct block to check to get the software updates.
What's great about it: Software updated forms quickly
What's not so great: Some difficulty loading and when went for help fell into trap of others offering support.

In addition to my 'regular' W2 income, I have some 'self employed' income. SInce I don't have a retirement account at my full time job, TurboTax helped me understand how saving to a retirement account of my own can help me lower my tax liability. I'm still paying tax, but I am able to save some for myself.
What's great about it: Easy to understand and use.
