Data Entry & Migration Problems

Forgot to enter a state id # on line 13 1099R form would not let me file my tax return unless this was entered however at the time this was not noted as such and necessitated me contacting your agent which even she had to go through a few gyrations to find it. A fix would be either highlighting the problem while inputting initially or better explanation when flagged. Also carry over loss from prior year did not migrate had to be entered manually also happened in 2012.
What's great about it: Relatively easy

Good but could be better

I've been using this product since it was originally called Mac In Tax. I like the ease of use, but this year I noticed that it was not handling expensing of business assets correctly. When you put in an asset less than $100.00 it asked correctly if you wanted to expense it. If you respond yes, it doesn't do anything with the item, basically it forgets that you entered it. The workaround was to add the assets as other deductions instead of Section 179 expenses.
What's great about it: Very easy to use
What's not so great: Doesn't handle expensing assets

This product will be still difficult to use for people not very adapt at technology.
Aliso error checking procedure very opaque and difficult to follow .Most people will have problem
Need voice activated input to help people not used to typing.
Do not understand why e filling fee went up by almost 25% in one year
What's great about it: easy to follow
What's not so great: Good but still takes a lot of time

Have used for several years and will continue to use as it was a relatively painless exercise. e-filing is a snap. Also used for my relative in another state w fed and state return.

Ease of guidance

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and do not see any reason for changing services in the future. The forms are filled in completely and each step is explained during preparation. Plus, personal info is transferred from previous years when using the same computer; no repetitive input necessary. As a fantastic bonus, It's Deductible Online makes charity donation compilation a breeze!!
What's great about it: Turbo Tax takes you through every possible tax area
What's not so great: No cons! Turbo tax makes filing easy!
