Was annoying at the end
on April 10, 2014

Everything up until the E-filing was amazing! After that, was really annoying. I kept getting to the validating part and it said i needed to update Turbo tax, so i did- again and again. I was ready to file 2 weeks ago and i had to request an extension because i was unsure if Turbo tax would let me file on time!
What's great about it: The questions were very clear and easy to answer
What's not so great: didnt let me file for 2 weeks
Pros: I had a baby, I moved

better this year

I did not print it out for the 2011 year so had no idea I would be audited because of the fact the State refund was not on the copy the IRS would be reviewing (late 2013) until I bought another printer, paid for new drivers for same, then printed it out only to find out it was on the worksheet (never would I have submitted it if I'd known), but NOT on the line 8 or 10 as it should have been. Costly mistake!
What's great about it: explanations for each entry were more clear
What's not so great: confusion from 2011 return when state refund was not captured but on the worksheet

Still getting Updates to TurboTax as I file?
on April 10, 2014

If I file a return in March 2014 and Turbotax has an update that affects my return either positively or negatively, how do I know and what does Turbotax do about that?
What's great about it: I like that the program is updated
What's not so great: What happens if an update affects a return that I have filed?
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Getting better

While I love using TT, there are things that still need to be worked on. First of all when importing from financial institutions you still had to go back and fill in more information. The 1099-R walk through is very confusing, especially if you had a pension that was not something that required a min distribution after 70 1/2.
I file schedule F as a joint venture which means we have to divide everything between my spouse and me and file two schedule F's. Sure wish TT could do something so that it could do the split and generate two forms.
What's great about it: imports previous information and makes comparisons
What's not so great: 1099-R walk through very confusing

All in all, a very good and easy program to use. The download from financial institution is the main reason I purchased TubTax.
What's great about it: Best and quickest download from financial institution.
What's not so great: Selection of forms for printing a little confusing.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
