I have used Turbo Tax since1988. It is a superb product that has adapted to available technology to produce a rare human machine synchronicity for what was previously one of the most onerous tasks on earth.
What's great about it: good flow, easy to use. Straight forward questions

Turbo Tax Time Saver!

It is a time saver. I love the way it gathers info, automatically asks the appropriate questions and saves all your data. After the initial set up, you can pick where you want to work on your taxes and correct any mistakes or changes you wish to enter.
The state taxes on the deluxe Turbo Tax did present problems. I answered a question wrong (trying to save time - thinking I could go back later and fix it) and could not find a way to correct it. If you have a non-standard state sales tax, I would recommend a higher version of Turbo Tax that would provide more assistance on State Tax.
What's great about it: Turbo Tax does almost everything for you. pops the info on the form. Guides me through all the appropriate questions.
What's not so great: State taxes: If you answer a question incorrectly, I couldn't find a way to correct it.

Cheaper to prepare, same refund

I've been doing taxes with our accountant for years. This year, I decided to see if it was true that we'd get the same return by doing it with TurboTax. I'm shocked to see that they were asking the exact same questions in the same order! The service obviously had TurboTax and was using it to do my taxes, and charging a huge fee! No more accountant for me - next year I'm "going Turbo" again!

State Tax carry over from Federal to State Tax

The program wouldn't carry the State Income Tax reported on my 1099-R over to the State Return, it only reported other income. Had to remove the reported 1099-R and re-enter it several times before it carried it forward to the State Return.
What's not so great: It didn't carry the income tax paid over to the State Return
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I would have liked advice that says something like- you withheld too much, here's what you should do to adjust your W4 or you had excess FICA withheld and that is where the bulk of your refund is from.
What's great about it: EASY TO INPUT DATA
What's not so great: THE SOFTWARE DID NOT TELL ME WHY I WAS GETTING SUCH A LARGE REFUND. WAS IT BECAUSE I HAD TOO MUCH WITHHELD XS FICA
