When it comes to the Ira contributions section it could be simplified a little more.. A lot in that section was confusing. Because of it I didn't take my deduction and ended up paying $4,600 in payment to IRS. And the property taxes and real estate taxes were also confusing. Should be a little more specific to show the difference between the two.

I have used TurboTax for many consecutive years with no problems whatsoever. Our return is not, by far, the most complicated; it is not of the 1040EZ variety either. TurboTax is a step-by-step, hand-holding that most would appreciate when submitting something to the IRS. It provides customers with appropriate questions at every turn to assure an accurate filing is made. TurboTax also offers more in-depth answers (inside and outside of the software program itself) when needed. You cannot go wrong here! Give it a try - You'll be glad you did!

The import process from last year to this year and getting so many items to import from other sites is the best part of the entire package.
What's great about it: Fairly quick and easy.
What's not so great: Some items can be confusing

The Agony of State Returns

The Federal portion was very easy to use. For the state returns, there seemed to be no way to get Turbo Tax to understand that my spouse was a full-time resident of California. We want to file jointly for the Feds and separately for the states. Doesn't appear to be possible.
What's great about it: It's good not to have to re-enter a lot of data.
What's not so great: State returns are very difficult if your spouse lives in a different state.

Turbo Tax is a nice tool as long as income is from the US. Adding any foreign affairs is a nightmare.

What's not so great: Sometimes the downloads don't seem to work for certain institutions such as The Northern Trust company

Excellent Product - easy to use

Excellent product and easy to use. The step by step instructions were easy to follow and the ability to download previous return information simplifies the data entry. Also, seems more availability of online access to accounts enables easy download of banking and brokerage data (no more laboring over multiple entries). Struggled just a bit with understanding foreign tax implications and how to properly enter them for maximum return benefit.
What's great about it: guides, download of previous year, online access of data
