TurboTax is easy to use, even though our employment situation was a little different this year. What I'm dissatisfied with is spending so much on the software, and then having to spend additional monies to e-file. There are other, less expensive companies I can use to file my taxes, and I just may use one of them next year.

TT wastes WAY too much paper for printed returns

I have been using TT for my personal taxes since tax year 1989 (DOS version). It has become much too bloated, please reduce all the extraneous "Look How Wonderful Turbo Tax Is" sheets during the printing of forms-for-filing. Also it would help reduce waste if all estimated tax payment vouchers were printed four-to-a-sheet, instead of wasting so much paper. And it would be very useful to have the option of printing payment envelopes, with the correct IRS office address.
What's great about it: Love the math and step-by-step
What's not so great: Hate the over-production of non-essential forms when printing.

From the Bottom Up

The best of times, the worst of times. I mostly got through without too much trouble.
Some of my main pains: My brokerage has hundreds of transactions that need to be entered. Usually you can enter the information through a downloadable file but, for some reason (maybe because I use an Apple) I couldn't do it. For this reason I had to mail my return and include the 6 pages of transactions as an addendum.
I can't remember, but it seems that it was easier or even possible in the past to print individual pages and forms. Don't know if it was me, but just couldn't do it -- couldn't even click and copy the information.
This was important because I wanted to create a list of my charitable donations and send it with the return, not just a small sampling that Turbo Tax shows. The IRS doesn't like lots of individual charitable deductions and even though dollar wise I am within reason, they take a look and then make me do mail-in audits which makes me crazy. Yes, I pass, but what a waste of time...
Nonetheless, I still like Turbo Tax but would like to see some of my problems worked out.
What's great about it: Really quite easy, although they are asking a lot more questions than in years past.
What's not so great: Can't print individual pages and forms. Can't copy information off pages.

Turbo Tax has always been my go-to preparer! It's very convenient, quick, and really makes sure you get the BEST refund.
What's great about it: Very thorough and super easy to navigate!

Calculations on non-taxable IRA Rollovers

When dealing with rollover of funds to IRA's, the application seemingly treated the rollover as a distribution to the individual instead of a financial institution in the income summary. This made it seem as if more taxes needed to be paid, and caused confusion and increased time sorting through the different screens to ensure the actual submission calculations would be accurate.
