I've been using Turbo Tax for years -- each year it gets easier! I notice small improvements each year that improve the performance of the program. THANK YOU!
What's great about it: Quick, simple to use, great answers to questions ...
What's not so great: My own procrastination! :D

Best Tax Software on the Market!

Have used TurboTax since about 2007, or earlier. Every year, I'm amazed at how quickly the return prep goes (what takes time is filling in all the blanks required by the folks at the IRS; "Fair Tax" or "Flat Tax," please!).
What's great about it: Easy guide gets you right through return preparation
What's not so great: Sure there are some, but can't think of any
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax handles the basics with ease. The tax code is more to blame, but Turbo Tax starts to get very complicated in certain situations. I stumbled badly the first time I tried to claim the foreign tax credit. Eventually, I figured out what Turbo Tax wanted and completed the return.
What's great about it: Very comprehensive
What's not so great: But not comprehensive enough

Not always clear on instructions, but OK

Sold my house early in 2013. I wanted the tax-free gain for a single person. I had rented my house for 2 1/2 years. The instructions said, "how many days of non-compliant use were there after 2010?" Like what??? The five years before I sold would have gone back to early 2008. So why ask about after 2010? That would be only 2 years and a couple of months. I needed to live in the house a total of 2 years out of 5 (not all together) to get the tax-free gains. I put in the true number of days after 2010 until I sold, just because I thought if I am going to trust this software, I must answer its questions correctly. I still think I paid too much tax on my gain, but it is too late to go to someone to do my taxes. I know I can file an extension, but I would pay a penalty, so I will pay and then hire someone and hope I can fill refile. Not happy.
What's great about it: The interface is easy and the price is much better than getting your taxes done
What's not so great: Sometimes the instructions are not clear at all; I am afraid I paid too much tax

I have been using Turbo Tax for years. It makes doing your returns so much easier than any other way. I rely on Turbo Tax to help me get through this every year.
What's great about it: Walking you through deductions & income
What's not so great: This year, you guys skipped medical and state sales tax! Had to go back and ask you for these areas.

Everything was fairly easy to understand but, the end is a problem. Having to go to so much trouble to NOT file a State Return for states that don't have a State Tax is a real issue. Just give the option to file or to NOT file A State Return. No searching around and deleting thing you didn't need in the first place. Good luck with next year.
What's great about it: Convienience
What's not so great: Programming issues
