Easy return

Used turbotax for years since it is easy to use and accurate. I like the organization and function of the system. I used to do my taxes by hand on paper. no more.

thought the process was fairly simple and covered everything easy to edit.
What's great about it: easy to use, lots of programs say they are easy and then give me a head ache this one really was
What's not so great: none i can think of
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

My Experience with Turbo Tax

Continuing the "Cons".......In order to claim the housing exclusion as provided in Section 107 as a "rental allowance exclusion," it would be helpful if Turbo Tax would include a way for me (and other clergy) to put in the information so that it would automatically be accounted for on the form 1040, lines 16a and 16b. I have gained the exclusion by overwriting the amount on 16b to reflect the amount after subtracting the exclusion. I then include a note explaining my action. So far, I have not been questioned about this by the IRS. However, Turbo Tax does not like it and says that my overwrite is an error.
What's great about it: Accurate, user friendly - more every year!
What's not so great: I am a clergy person, and TT does not provide a step for the clergy housing exclusion as provided by law.

Simple and easy to follow

Not only having to do individual but also a self owned business, I appreciate the easy, walk me through it steps of the program
that help me round up all the deductions and credits I'm entitled
to. Thanks TurboTax for helping make a dreaded job easier to accomplish without losing too much of my sanity!

What's great about it: Walked me through all aspects of the tax return process
What's not so great: Only a few minor stumbles to understand what was needed

I've used TurboTax for years & have always been pleased with the results. It asks questions that make you think about whether you've entered everything you should & correctly. The review process catches the small things that may have been omitted or entered incorrectly.
What's great about it: Questions & reviews are helpful

Turbo tax is becoming unnecessarily complex. In addition, when making corrections (in the review phase), it is impossible to make out what one is changing: sometimes, the hints are so opaque as to be unintelligible. On one occasion, the line cited as being corrected was nonexistent! It might be helpful to be able to view the specific page in a separate viewer window with the required change under consideration highlighted in its context such that it is possible to know what to put into the box.
