Felt Comfortable Filing My Tax Return

Really felt comfortable filing my taxes myself, with the guide in TurboTax Deluxe. I liked I could look up items that needed explaining. Love that you could get your IRS and State number through program. I liked the options of what type of payment I could choose. Loved the review of my final product before filing. Only drawback is paying filing fee for State before filing taxes electronically. Love the Audit protection help too, just in case!
What's great about it: Guided and explained all items to cover.
What's not so great: Not just letting us buy our filing fee automatically. Charging us for State after, stunk.

Super Easy and Convenient

Simple, flexible, easy to use, software for simple returns requiring itemized deductions. I'm retired, but spend the money because I trust Intuit products.
What's great about it: Easy to follow and use; fast; convenient; trustworthy.
What's not so great: None, but I haven't compared with other software.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

May be slipping

A little less intuitive to use than previous years, and absolutely would not efile because it told me there were updates to the program that needed to be downloaded, despite that I had downloaded updates four times and restarted my computer. I've got bertter ways to spend time than fighting glitches, so I printed and filed by mail. But that's disappointing.
What's great about it: Easy to use, comprehensive

GUFI (Graphic User Friendly Interface) - NOT

The [contiune] and other buttons, and the boxes for entring data are "stealth". That is, they are low contrast white on light blue of light grey for the buttons and very light grey for the boxes. The buttons appear to be greyed-ed and therefore, inactive. The text on the buttons is difficult to read. The frames for the data boxes are virtually non-existent.
Please either fire your graphic designers or at least emphasize to them the the primary function of a graphic is to make it easier for the user to interact with the program. Making it look pretty is a secondary function. Frankly, it would be easier to interact with an old mainframe 80x24 text only terminal than your GUFI interface.
Also some of the test is also rendered in "stealth" format light grey on white. If it isn't important enough to make it clearly readable, why clutter the screen with it.

Update and transfer problems

This is the first year Turbotax wouldn't automatically transfer info from 2012 taxes saved on my computer. I had to install the 2012 CD I saved for the software to have something I could even click on (hard drive info, though there, wouldn't highlight). Tax updates were problematic as usual, and required extra steps only found on the internet.
What's great about it: Fast State return
What's not so great: Wouldn't transfer 2012 tax info without CD backup

fast and easy

if you get stuck on some part of your tax form it can be very difficult to figure out even with the self help.

Not easy to navigate at times

I am familiar with the tax forms, and would prefer to be able to see how the input information really looks on the form.
What's great about it: Calculations and suggestions were helpful
What's not so great: I wanted to see What the tax form looked like, and couldn't get to that page until the end.
