Easy as usual

I had to start over because I started entering my 1099-R info as a W-2. Once I recognized what was going on I started over and everything went well from there. The only suggestion I would make is to determine if a RMD should be included in the estimated tax payments. My wife and I both have RMD payments that need to be figured into our estimated taxes so we don't pay penalties for under payment.
What's great about it: Holds your hand all the way
What's not so great: Did not ask immediately if I was retired

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years now. Even though my taxes have gotten a little more complicated I still find Turbo Tax keeps it easy. I have always been able to find answers for my questions.
What's great about it: Most info is downloaded from the source & easy step process
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Always like the step-through process of Turbo Tax, even if I could pick and choose and enter myself. A good product year after year.
What's great about it: Easy, straight-forward screens
What's not so great: 'Next' buttons often off view screen
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments

I have stocks in an account which reinvests the dividends to purchase additional shares. The administrator sold .488 shares @ 71.74 on 3/1/2013 to pay the maintenance fee of 35. On last years return e-filed by a CPA, his entry in box B for the date acquired as various was accepted. Turbo tax insisted on an actual date for the long term capital gain. Since, I have had stocks in the account for over 20 years, I entered a date in the 1990s to proceed. PS - Your nickname rules stink.
What's great about it: walk through process
What's not so great: too rigid on capital gains info

TurboTax keeps up with all the changes in the tax laws and prevents mistakes. The detail worksheets are great for use in other areas. I use them to keep up with different assets and expenses. Most any tax questions have a resource to find answers.
What's great about it: Good Balance step by step or Forms or on your own
What's not so great: Printing forms is more trouble than past years
