T-Tax is a great resource

I have use Turbo Tax for several years. It has gotten better, easier to use every year. This year (2013) was the best experience I've had with the product.
What's great about it: Everything was clear and concise. A gtreat experience.
What's not so great: None

In some ways TurboTax is getting worse

TurboTax used to be much more helpful. I used to be able to see how this years income, deductions, etc., compared with the prior year's. If there is a way to do it, I couldn't find it. Also could be more helpful regarding deductions. Could spell out for example that if your deductions don't total x, there is no point in going through the exercise if you don't meet minimum thresholds, i.e, 7.5% or 10% of AGI.depending on age.
I was very disappointed with the Virginia state tax program. It asked for an allocation of capital gains between me and my spouse, but did not explain how to make the allocation when the capital gain was reduced by a capital loss carry forward.
What's great about it: Imported data, imported info. from last return
What's not so great: No longer gives you printable comparison with prior years. Va state tax doesn't provide needed explanations.

Most Good

For 1116s the help screen did not help. There are always errors for the 1116s in error check. "Various" rather than RIC and itemizing countries finally ended the frustration.
"Explain carryover" So what is this about? How about an example or two.
What's great about it: Most seemed easier to enter this year with better organization
What's not so great: 1116s were a pain, again.

Found it easy to follow and asked the right questions to be sure we got the deductions we were due. Made it bearable! (Never a fun thing to do).

I have used TurboTax for over a decade and the product just gets better each year. I use the personal and business editions. It really makes life simple when it comes to filing.

It would be helpful ...

Generate a detailed list to print, of info to gather to fill out the forms (ie: Tax,Real, auto, utilities). Problem is, you do not know what to collect untill you are in that section. The list could be created based on last years return (if there are no changes)
What's great about it: Better and more user friendly than last year
What's not so great: No detailed outlinet of info needed based on last years filing

Simple & Easy

Best thing about Turbo Tax is it walk you through step by step, it make it so easy to do your tax. This is my fourth year using Turbo Tax and it's definitely a keeper. I will definitely use it again next year.
What's great about it: Step-by-step walk through.
What's not so great: Can't find anything I don't like.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
