Very easy - almost!

I have used Turbo Tax for several years and find it relatively easy and accurate. I have had complicated situations a couple of years. For one, I was able to find the solutions in the ask questions area - terrific. This year it was a little more complicated, but I did get a solution with the question/answer plus my trial and error.
I really like the way info is pulled from the previous year especially for carryovers which I probably would have forgotten.

What's great about it: Made taxes easy!
What's not so great: Had difficulty with one area of conflict with your software.

Understood my position

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years because they understand to various intricacies that clergy must follow in our preparation. It has been a most helpful tool.
What's great about it: Knew about us who are employed and self-employed, Easy to follow step=by-step.
What's not so great: ome forms would not print when needed.

Turbo Tax

What's great about it: the program is very easy to work with
What's not so great: some times its hard to navigate back up. but thats minor in my opinion.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I had problems with my Private Canadian Pensions entering Income and taxes paid to CRS (Canadian Revenue Service)
What's great about it: Handled 93% of my enteries
What's not so great: Had problems with 7% of my entries

Great Program!

I love this software program. Have used it for years. This was the first year I had any problems with downloading and updating the program, but honestly don't know if it was the software or new computer! The customer support girl that helped me get it going was super!!! and very helpful and patient! Thanks!!
What's great about it: Love the easy walk through!
What's not so great: Downloads can be a pain!

Overall, easier

Overall - great - like how you transfer info from last year.
What's great about it: Makes it easy to file a Schedule C. Especially when I'm not sure what schedules will go with it.
What's not so great: Somewhat difficult to get back into schedules to change something without answering all of the questions in that sect.

Good Tax Stuff

I have used TurboTax since it was MacInTax (1987). It continues to be reliable and generally thorough. However, there is a lack of flexibility for accessing blank forms without the EasyStep questions (e.g., Form 8949 and K-1). Such access should be available for the unusual case such as tax info provided by a Grantor Letter associated with some Trusts. Grantor Letters often have only two or three entries and the directions are to enter the info on From 8949; other info is to be entered directly on Form 1040 or Schedule D. I could only enter two of my entries by "Override" and the third by using "1099-B other". TT considers "Override" items as errors during Error Check. Not helpful!!
What's great about it: EasyStep is thorough; ItsDeductible worked very well.
What's not so great: Lack of flexibility for the unusual, e.g., Grantor Letter for Trusts. Unable to access a clean 8949 .

Doesn't work on MacBook Pro

Won't be purchasing TurboTax next year unless problem downloading updates for MacBook Pro gets fixed. Wasn't even able to file my federal return electronically because I couldn't get the latest updates.
