Good Software, But Feel Price Gouged

Great software and easy to use, filing taxes by point-and-click. To completely file a multiple state return they charge for each additional state just to prepare the return, and then charge an additional fee to efile the additional return. These seem to be hidden costs that are not obvious when you buy the software.
What's great about it: Easy process, simple step-by-step instructions
What's not so great: Feel like I'm gouged for add-ons, additional charges per state return filed, electronic filing fees for returns seem hig

IRA trouble

Our state pension plans should not have been included in the questions on percent of RMW as that is figured in already.
Confusing explanation and insistence that we declare a percentage. Only valid on our plain IRA account.

I am very happy with Turbo Tax. Turbo Tax is good at getting the information from my previous tax return, and found a missing mileage deduction.

Another Excellent Return

I have been using TurboTax for several years. I love the fact that it uploads all the previous returns info, making the job to just updating information. All the returns are in My Documents folder so I can pull up past returns easily
What's great about it: Thorough, easy, organized great record retention
What's not so great: Not cheaper than doing by hand, but cheaper than an accountant

Straightforward and Helpful

My feedback mostly relates to things found in "error check" that I don't recall being asked about in the first place.
I swear I didn't skip any steps in putting in my dividend information, yet error check revealed four instances where I hadn't decided whether to list my foreign taxes paid as deductions on Schedule A, or file form 1116 for the Foreign Tax Credit. I went back and went through again, and figured it out eventually. My mother has had this happen to her several years in a row, with error check finding something that should have been resolved in the initial "step-by-step" process. I suggest that there is a glitch, or at least an opportunity to revise that process on the front end, so it's less likely to be caught by Error Check.
Otherwise, it's a splendid product, esp. with the deal you provide through my mutual fund institution. I use it every year.
What's great about it: Step-by-step, mostly clear instructions
What's not so great: there's a glitch re: foreign tax deduction vs. credit

easy refund

I was an accountant for forty years and this product is second to none. The flexibility of the package (k-!'s for an example) is fantastic and the examples and explanations are excellent. I had an unusual problem this year and your support was excellent
