pretty easy

It would be great that as you are going through each section of the the tax forms you could print each section (like a screen shot) so you could save it for doing your taxes next time.
What's great about it: walks you through the process
What's not so great: I want to be able to print each individual page of my work pages of the tax form

I don't find this year's version as simple as previous years' versions. However, it went smoothly once I figured the 1099-MISC stuff out.
What's great about it: simple until I got to the 1099-MISC

I have used Turbo Tax since 2006 and am so grateful it is there. MUCH better than paper forms especially as my taxes have gotten more complicated over the years. Turbo Tax makes getting through the tedious tax process so much simpler and easier. I have to do the hard part of gathering the information, receipts, etc. but then Turbo Tax can fill in all the right blanks. And I love how it saves all my previous years' data - saving me loads of time. The additions of downloading information from investment firms and banks is tremendous and gets more extensive every year. I use ItsDeductible, too, and that makes my donations easy to organize. If we get a refund, I know I will have it in my bank account within a week. I feel confident that any mistakes I could have made have been caught and corrected by TurboTax. It allows me to read about the tax code relevant to my situation, and I learn something new every year that will help me out the following year.
Other than hiring someone to do my taxes for me, this is really the ONLY way to do your yearly taxes. I dread tax time every year, but Turbo Tax makes is much less painful.

What's great about it: Takes you through all relevant questions and makes sure you don't miss anything
What's not so great: Some forms I had to research then look up specifically because it was not obvious on Turbo Tax. But really, no cons.

2013 Software Issue

I imported Dividend Income information. TurboTax program did not transfer "Taxable Income" amount onto screen.

This is the first year I have had so much trouble.

This was the first time I had so much trouble getting help. Most of the time I did not get an answer, even if it is unclear you should say, "Question is unclear". Also, I am hoping my return is submitted properly because the forms were out of order when I printed them. One state was duplicated with the fed. return and two state forms were mixed up in the printing. I have never had doing my taxes this hard before with Turbo Tax.
What's great about it: Forms and leading question at your finger tips
What's not so great: Some data did not transfer over to state & forms out of order.

it's a relief to get it done goes faster than by hand, don't have to do the aggravating tables required when doing it by hand
What's great about it: updated on changes, does AMT, quicker than doing it by hand
What's not so great: state tax form free, but e-filing charged

Need easier way to deal with royalty income

I realize this is a niche area, but I wasn't comfortable following the steps that ultimately were needed to cover my situation. I wrote some additional musical arrangements for an already-published play. The composer liked my work and included it in the revised play. As a result, I periodically receive a royalty check from Dramatic Publishing. I never actually created a business--it was a one-time event that generates very small income each year. Dramatic Publishing sends a 1099-MISC to account for it. It would help if TurboTax could ask questions in a way that help people in my situation more easily account for what is really a non-business-related income that happens to be ongoing.
What's great about it: Overall, a great program
What's not so great: Needs better way to handle royalty income
