Still needs some work on the explanations

Turbotax has been around for a fairly long time and has improved over the years. However, some of the leaps that it made this year did not help me understand what I was doing. The explanations are okay and the overall documentation is so so at best and this results in eventually getting where one needs to go. However, it is reasonably priced, continues to improve its online help but opening it up to the community and not just to internal experts. Overall this is a B to B+ piece of software.
What's great about it: Quick, up-to-date every year, consistency, better AMT handling
What's not so great: so so documentation, slow to update screens

During entry of data, TurboTax dropped information from a W-2. I know it was added but when I reviewed my return, it was no longer there. Also, I entered an Identity Protection Personal Identification Number on the return but when the return was filed, it was rejected by the IRS for not having the number. Again, information that was definitely entered for the return was dropped by TurboTax. The software does a great job but must be checked very closely for errors that aren't caught in the final review. Finally, after all data was entered, it was suggested that I perform a final update of the software. During the update, the software locked up and was totally unresponsive. I had to call the TurboTax helpline to get the software working again. They were very helpful.
What's great about it: Ease of tax preparation
What's not so great: Drops data and does not catch some errors..
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I have used turbo tax for several years and haven't had any problems. Please keep up the good work!!
What's great about it: Easy to follow directions. If you can read you can do this.
What's not so great: High price for e-filing the state return.

The turbo tax software was very helpful in coaching me to gather the correct documents and what I should save for next year. The help pages were very informative and helped me save time and anxiety about what documentation I needed.
The menus are detailed and helped me to not make common mistakes about what I can and cannot deduct to maximize my return legally.
What's great about it: Not too difficult to follow but still some tax lawyer speak.
What's not so great: Some things were a little tax lawyer speak but the help pages were very good to help me understand what was needed.

I used the competitor's online tax software last year. I went back to Turbo Tax this year...it's a better product overall.

Turbotax works well

I like using this product and I trust it to be correct. My only request is if the software folks could allow us a split screen to review the return as we fill in the fields. It's difficult to know where to correct things if I cannot see the return at the time.
