Worked as advertised

Removing forms in the state tax application for a business that never started up after an inter-state move. Solution was counter-intuitive - had to pretend the business started and then was disposed of.
Federal taxes were a breeze enter including the business forms discussed above.
What's great about it: importing last year's data; year over year comparisons; import financial data;
What's not so great: State form editing - removing a discontinued (nonfunctioning) business

Complicated Income Tax Became a Simple Income Tax

Because of a couple of life changes, our 2013 income tax process was, to me, a complicated mess. TT made that mess easy to process through its detailed questioning. But the questions were not overwhelming. Through a general-to-specific questioning process, TT only focused on those areas of the taxing process that specifically related to my tax situation. All-in-all, TT made my complicated tax situation much easier to negotiate and file.
What's great about it: TT questions made my complicated tax situation an easy process.
What's not so great: Nothing!

Quick and Easy

TureboTax is an easy software to work with. If I had a more complicated return, I would probably go to a pro, but my return is fairly simple and straightforward.
What's great about it: Walks you through your income and deductions line by line
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Turbo tax is slipping. A problem with 1099 G form. Had to go to outside help to get the program to function properly.
Turbo tax did not catch some deductions that I claimed last year. and forgot for this year.I found them when I manually reviewed the forms. Turbo tax used to be the best for that reason.
Fees for payment to IRS for credit card are outrageous and not tolerable. I expected more from Turbo tax and overall this is the worst experience I have had ever with Turbo Tax after many years of use.

What's not so great: 1. huge problem with form 1099-g for some payments. Not user friendly at all for this function.

For info on multiple entries like stock sales, create a table for users to enter all at once or import personal files in standard format like Excel.
An optional feature for looking up cost basis of old investment where users lost the info, but the stock symbol and acquisition date info are available.

What's not so great: Investment entries - have a big table, instead of indiv data fields and click thru all the screens
